oPt Psychosocial Support Consultant – West Bank At Internews

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The political, security, and socioeconomic situation in the West Bank and Gaza has been deteriorating rapidly since the outbreak of the recent war. Apart from the ongoing war and political deadlock, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened, posing a significant threat to the prospects of strengthening democratic processes. Internews’ experience working in repressive contexts, particularly those which are conflict-affected, indicates significant levels of stress and trauma amongst media staff and journalists reporting in highly volatile and oppressive conditions and witnessing atrocities in the course of their duties.

To build upon, Internews will follow a holistic and contextualized psychosocial approach in the West Bank and Gaza by providing psychosocial support to Internews media partners conducted by an Arabic-speaking psychosocial expert.

The psychosocial consultant will lead psychosocial care and traumatic management workshops and provide counseling sessions for beneficiaries, partners, and staff when needed. All activities, sessions and reports should highly respect the privacy and anonymity of the beneficiaries. The consultant will report directly to the project manager and will be required to attend several meetings with different teams at Internews when needed.
