The Partnership Managerwill play a lead role in strengthening ShelterBox’s approaches to partnership. They will work across departments to establish systems and approaches for identifying, establishing and maintaining effective partnerships that have mutual benefit for our work and that of our partners.

This role will map and identify new partnership opportunities, look at current partnerships and build a strategic framework that will support partner initiatives and approaches that maximise opportunities for the organisation and support the localisation agenda. They will work with the Programme Delivery & Programme Funding teams to provide support to ensure that partner agreements are in place and that donor requirements are complied with by partner organisations. They will act as a technical backstop for partnership good practice and compliance.

The role will work across departments (Programme Delivery, Programme Funding, Programme Quality, Supply Chain, Finance and Learning & Development) to continuously improve systems to support our partnership strategy.

The role will also support our Programme Delivery teams to ensure that our partnerships facilitate timely, impactful assistance to people affected by disaster and conflict.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assess the current partnership portfolio identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks related to current partners
  • Lead the development of a Partnership Sub-strategy under ShelterBox’s Programmes Strategy to support emergency response and regional programmes
  • Develop systematic approaches to selecting partners and identifying and pursuing strategic partnerships
  • Work with other relevant colleagues across departments to ensure that appropriate processes and tools are in place to support an approach to partner organisational capacity assessment (OCA) that is coherent, holistic, streamlined to reduce burden on partners, and designed to mitigate power imbalances to the greatest extent possible
  • Work with Programme Managers, Emergency Coordinators and our partners to ensure that OCA outcomes are translated in capacity development plans, and to monitor implementation of these plans
  • Collaborate with the Programme Quality team to design appropriate partnership outcomes and outputs with indicators to be measured at programme and project levels, and ensure that learning on partnership is systematically captured and applied.
  • Work with the Learning & Development team to support our teams to develop their capacity on best practice in partnership, as well as developing approaches to support partner capacity strengthening
  • Create opportunities to support partnership development, joint learning and capacity strengthening by bringing our partners together
  • Identify and explore new global/regional strategic partnership opportunities and support Programme Managers, Regional Directors and Emergency Coordinators to identify and build relationships with partners at country-level
  • Identify opportunities to expand partnership management capacity if required, including field-based roles as appropriate.
  • Support Programme Managers, Emergency Coordinators and the Grants Manager to ensure that the sub-grant agreements and terms of partnerships, as well as institutional policies and procedures are complied with by the partner organisations, including policies on safeguarding
  • Keep track of relevant technical, operational, finance, HR, or grants issues and where necessary assist relevant ShelterBox teams to ensure continuous support to, and involvement of, partners at all stages of the programme cycle
  • Plan and facilitate periodic two-way partnership review processes, ensuring that discussions are as constructive, relevant, and mutually beneficial as possible; Ensure that mutually-agreed-upon actions are met
  • Conduct periodic partnership audits with colleagues in International Programmes, Finance, Fundraising and Communications to ensure consistent application of our partnership strategy across programmes
  • Act as relationship manager for ShelterBox’s strategic partnerships (except Rotary), cultivating positive relationships and ensuring key programmatic information is shared
