Partnership Officer – Remote At Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project

The project

The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) is a disaggregated data collection, analysis, and crisis mapping project. The ACLED team conducts analysis to describe, explore, and test conflict scenarios and makes both data and analysis open for free use by the public. ACLED material is regularly used to inform journalism, academic research, and public discourse on conflict, and to support the work of practitioners and policymakers. ACLED is the highest quality and most widely used real-time data and analysis source on political violence and protest around the world.

The role

ACLED is recruiting a full-time Partnership Officer to assist with establishing partnerships at ACLED, and their subsequent management and coordination. The past decades have seen an increase in conflict observatories established at the local level as both social activism and the ability to report political violence has increased. These organizations leverage their local knowledge as they collect and obtain information through primary and/or secondary means. ACLED develops relationships with local partners to enhance the depth and quality of its data. In addition, ACLED has established relationships with a number of global organizations doing work in this space as well. Partner agreements range from formal data sharing arrangements to informal exchanges of contextual or technical knowledge.

Within this context, the candidate would be responsible for identifying new potential partners, assessing their viability, and working with Research Managers to establish the partnership, supporting logistics and administration. After partnerships have been established, the candidate would support the management of the partnership, coordinating meetings, drafting and operationalizing MOUs, etc.

Applications must be submitted by 5 PM EST on Friday, August 19th to be considered for this position.

  • Facilitate and support the partner organization’s access to ACLED data, in conjunction with the Data Access team
  • Lead data entry, management, and maintenance of partner accounts and contact information (using Salesforce, Asana, and other tools);
  • Draft and share partnership agreements (MOUs) with prospective research partners;
