Partnership Officer, Rooted in Trust At Internews Network

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Rooted in Trust project works to combat COVID-19 rumors and misinformation in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Colombia, Brazil, Mali, DRC, Sudan and South Sudan. We work to create impact at the local level and inform approaches to rumor management at the global level. The project is supported by a Global Technical Advisory team made up of media, humanitarian, data science and information management experts.

In Phase I of the project, we collected more than 19 thousand rumors in 14 languages and supported more than 30 local trusted information providers. In this critical phase of the pandemic, we will build on these efforts to listen and respond to the information challenges faced by vulnerable groups in humanitarian contexts, encouraging open dialogue between citizens and scientists and stronger and more collaborative partnerships between information providers (such as local media) and humanitarian and health sources.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, Rooted in Trust, the Partnership Officer will provide administrative and financial support to the Rooted in Trust project’s partners and sub grantees.

LOGISTICS

This is a remote-first position. This position will require some flexibility to coordinate with partners located in Americas, Africa, and Middle East regions, as well as those on the East Coast of the United States (GMT -5).

Candidates based elsewhere are welcome to apply; however, you must have work authorization in your location that does not require sponsorship from Internews. In addition, there are some locations in which Internews is not able to support fully remote work.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

Organize briefings with partners focused on contracts and financial reports forms;
Ensure that all partners are informed about all supporting documentation requested, and reporting requirements;
Review subgrants’ quarterly financial reports;
Direct budget/agreement negotiation with subrecipients (calls and emails);
Put together subgrant request packages per Internews and funder policies and procedures;
Follow up with programs to get responses related to subgrant Scopes of Work and budgets;
Help address subrecipients; questions about payments and reports;
Assist the Finance Manager in providing in-depth financial analysis of the financial reports submitted by sub-grantees;
Ensure that all vouchers and documentation related to quarterly reports comply with each sub-grantees’ contract and are approved by the Headquarters Grants and Contracts department. Ensure that documentation is properly filed and available on Egnyte;
Support sub-grantees in all financial and procurement matters regarding the project, organizing capacity building sessions if needed;
Other duties as assigned; and
In all duties, an understanding of and demonstrated commitment to upholding Internews’ Core Values.
QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

3-5 years of work experience in financial management, finance and accounting, and/or grants management
Proficiency in MS Excel
Working knowledge of reporting systems
Previous work experience with subgrants and contracts, preferably with an international NGO
Previous work experience with subaward management and development of subaward monitoring systems
Effective communication skills
Good team player
Flexible and able to work with a multinational country team and local partners
Strong written and oral communication skills in English and/or French, working knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese preferred
