New York Service Cluster (NYSC) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management. NYSC includes the following business units:

Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners. PSC administers, provides support and oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations. It is headed by the PSC Director who has the overall authority and accountability for the performance of the Peace and Security Cluster on behalf of its clients.

Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP) It provides Services to partners’ programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of approximately 125 countries.

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the NYSC Regional Management and Oversight Advisor (RMOA), the Partnerships Senior Analyst will support the internal coordination and implementation of UNOPS corporate and strategic initiatives, business planning & reporting, as well as knowledge sharing and communication in collaboration with the NYSC RD and management team. The Partnerships Senior Analyst is also responsible for the effective delivery of services in order to support the NYSC strategy development and implementation, by helping gather client intelligence and analyze trends, support to identify and develop new engagements, partnerships, project and implementation design, and quality assurance. The Support and Partnerships Senior Analyst may also support implementation of special initiatives, or as surge capacity for NYSC overall..

Maintaining the highest degree of personal and professional ethics, the Partnerships Senior Analyst maintains a collaborative, client-focused, quality and results-oriented approach in the NYSC.

The incumbent of this position will be personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Functional Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Support the oversight of NYSC Portfolio performance management through provision of analytics and reports

  • Support NYSC management on the implementation and monitoring progress/ reporting of corporate and strategic initiatives
  • Identifies requirements related to marketing materials and the distribution thereof, as well as any reports/publications required for existing and potential clients and partners
  • Communicates with the relevant UNOPS personnel on matters pertaining to their respective responsibilities in relation to program and business development
  • Develops UNOPS capacity statements for the various services provided by UNOPS
  • Supports NYSC operations and contributes to knowledge sharing, enhancing the harmonization of projects while facilitating synergies with team members

Project Support

  • Prepares project documents, legal agreements, budgets and support engagement clearance.
  • Assists the preparation of meetings and events, draft talking points, and meeting minutes
  • Supports NYSC management in project compliance and quality assurance, by providing up to date analysis of project progress, by facilitating project board meetings and by keeping track of performance vs portfolio Key Performance Indicators – KPIs.
  • Collaborates with business area teams to understand project requirements, shape the initial project request, and provide a high-level estimate of the project effort and costs
  • Support to internal coordination of corporate and strategic initiatives, planning and reporting and knowledge sharing and communications

Development and follow up of business opportunities

  • Contributes and supports the development and implementation of NYSC business strategy
  • Conducts research on donor aid flows worldwide, UN and other agencies, trends in aid, potential future markets for growth, creating criteria for selecting target markets and partners, comparison of donor types, and UNOPS market with special emphasis to NYSC core business.
  • Synthesizes and summarizes information relevant to business development and prepare relevant reports, briefing notes/talking points/presentations and other materials for internal and external use
  • Advocates UNOPS as a partner and service provider of choice
  • Supports development of strategic partnerships with key counterparts and business opportunities
  • Maintain and develop contacts and partnerships within the donor community (UN agencies, donor governments, donor organizations, etc.), monitor communications, follow-up activities and proposal submissions;

Support communication and knowledge management

  • Promote the circulation of information within NYSC and its clusters , in order to support knowledge management and create cross synergies within NYSC Clusters.
  • Produce high quality communications and visibility materials of NYSC on websites

Monitoring and Progress Controls

  • Supports preparation of the monthly KPI reports as per NYSC target agreement
  • Prepare periodic updates on the progress of Corporate action plans
  • Provides ad hoc research on potential business partners
  • Maintain the NYSC intranet web page and UNOPS website

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education: **

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent)
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with 2 years of additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

  • At least two (2) years in project development, partnerships, or resource mobilization is required
  • Previous experience within the UN system is an asset (Candidates who do not have prior experience within the UN system are welcome to apply)

Language:

  • Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required
  • Fluency/working knowledge of another UN language is an asset
