Independent non-profit organization care about the Syrian Children and youths’ affairs, established in 2004 as charity association by Syrian engineers, where it started its activities in the city of Aleppo north of Syria, then BONYAN started an emergency response to the Syrian crisis in NW Syria in 2014 and has been registered legally in Turkey in Gaziantep.

BONYAN’s Syria and Refugee Response program is centered into children and youth support and development to enhance them to be an active participant in the renaissance of the Syrian civil society in the future of Syria, and is structured around three four main sectors: Education, Protection, ERL, and Emergency Response.

Job Description Details:

Job purpose:

The Humanitarian PDQ Manager in BONYAN has a strategic role in:

  • Leading on humanitarian planning for BONYAN response.
  • Quality programming in the department of program development and quality assurance.
  • Managing and improving MEAL systems within the humanitarian context in the PDQ department.
  • Direct oversight and direction responsibilities of the following thematic technical advisors and managers:
    (Program Manager + IM & MEAL Manager + Grants Manager + Partnerships Manager).
  • Direct support role in producing the multi sectors related updates under the one unified program of BONYAN in the monthly humanitarian sitrep reports with the advocacy and communication team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Programing, Information Management, Grants, and Partnerships:

  • Supervise and monitor the overall implementation of the project’s plans.
  • Supervise the managers of the four sections (Program Manager + IM & MEAL Manager + Grants Manager + Partnerships Manager). ) under the one unified BONYAN PDQ department.
  • Enhance the resolving of the problems of deviations in the implementation of the projects.
  • Ensure effective coordination and cooperation between the various sections and the CEO to achieve the strategic objectives of BONYAN.
  • Lead the Coordination between the four sections managers from one side and the operations department from the other side to set the operational plan and achieve its objectives.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the four sections managers, assisting them in solving the problems they encounter.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for each section and submit them to the Executive Management.
  • Present developmental ideas and suggestions regarding project implementation procedures in Bonyan organization.
  • Attend the meetings of the SMT of the organization, expressing opinions and proposals for developing work.
  • Manage the process of building, developing, and maintaining relationships with donors of the current ongoing projects and for new projects.
  • Continuous communication with the donor during the implementation of the project phases.
  • Prepare the annual operational plan for the four sections supervised, distributing it into interim assignments and milestones.
  • Represent the organization in a programmatic, informative, and high-level coordination platform.
  • Participate in the meetings of the SMT internally in the organization.
  • Develop and train the four sections managers team members and periodically evaluating their performance.
  • Develop the organization’s profile and other identification, technical, implementation tools.
  • Improving the mental image of the organization in front of the donors related to the organization’s program and activities.
  • Advocacy for the sustainability of the funding of the projects.
  • Advocacy of the comprehensive integrated approach of the one unified program of BONYAN.
  • Supervise designing the PDQ department strategy.
  • Conduct any other tasks assigned to her/him by the CEO within the limits of their competence.

Academic Qualifications:

  • University degree in business administration or relevant field of study.
  • Project Management Certificate, PMD is preferred
  • Master degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent is desired.
  • Additional training degrees on humanitarian response programming, budgeting for US and EU based donors or equivalent

Requirements:

  • Practical experience of not less than 4 years in a Senior Management position
  • A recognized leadership role in relevant technical areas at both field and country level

· Substantial experience in management in an NGO environment, including experience directing and implementing programs for children and youths in a protracted emergency context, preferably with solid experience in more than one of the BONYAN sectors: education, protection, ERL, and ER.

  • An understanding of the issues concerning the NGO sector, both development, and humanitarian issues
  • Solid experience in developing and managing monitoring and learning systems
  • Good analytical skills. Effective negotiator, with the ability to positively influence cross-departmental and cross-sector working
  • Strong advocacy and policy development/implementation experience and skills
  • Proven ability to lead proposal development teams for US government, ECHO EU, UN agencies proposals
  • Credibility to lobby, influence, and represent BONYAN at all levels
  • Resource management, training, capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams, in emergencies
  • Commitment to and understanding of BONYAN aims, values, and principles including children and youth-based approaches
  • Proven ability and experience in report writing and quality review
  • Fluency in English (speaking and writing)

Desirable:

· Fluency in Turkish (speaking and writing)
