Peacebuilding Coordinator At Danish Refugee Council

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Peacebuilding Coordinator to ensure quality standards and innovative approaches in the implementation of the Libya DRC Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding programme.

About the job:

As DRC Libya Peacebuilding Coordinator you are responsible for the strategic development and technical supervision of the Peacebuilding-Community Safety activities which aim at strengthening the resilience and social cohesion of conflict affected communities via participatory processes, conflict analysis and management as well as security governance. In line with DRC Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (HDP) sector approach, you are ultimately responsible in ensuring the high quality of the Peacebuilding-Community Safety programme, providing technical guidance and building the team capacity along the project cycle management phases. You are also shaping the strategic development of DRC Peacebuilding-Community safety sector and its contribution to DRC presence in the country in line with DRC advocacy and programme strategy.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and provide technical guidance to the development of the Peacebuilding-Community Safety programme in Libya, including the definition of the programme strategy and its contribution to DRC Libya goals and fundraising efforts.
  • Provide high quality programme and reporting standards and contribute to the implementation of MEAL tools and practices for the Peacebuilding-Community Safety activities in Libya.
  • Monitor the peace and conflict context in the country, internally coordinate and externally represent the organization and programme in line with DRC advocacy and strategy with regards to your sector.
  • Capacity building of the Peacebuilding-Community Safety team in conflict sensitivity, management and resolution and other relevant modules.
  • Contributing to the conflict sensitivity objectives of DRC programme in Libya with protocols in place and trainings.

About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to have experience in conflict sensitivity and management, expertise in strategic programme development and implementation with a focus on civil society engagement in communities impacted by the consequences of armed violence.

Moreover, we also prefer you to possess the following:

Required

  • Excellent understanding of working on peace, conflict management, security governance issues and armed violence impact on community safety and cohesion in complex conflict settings.
  • Previous experience in complex humanitarian-development crisis impacted by conflict.
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, communication, planning and capacity building skills.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical and writing skills.
  • Experience in facilitation of workshops and delivery of trainings.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in Libya.
  • Experience and skills in conflict related data management and visualization systems.
