This is a 12-month mandate in Lima, Peru.
The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028).
The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything it does.
Here’s what your daily life will look like:
In close collaboration with Oxfam’s in-country team members and VCP partners, your mandate will be to:
Strengthening of the intervention
- Contribute to the implementation of political and institutional advocacy processes in the three outcomes of the Economic and Social Justice Axis, in coordination with partner organizations and allies and in accordance with Oxfam’s approach of influence;
- Contribute to the implementation of political and institutional advocacy processes at the national, regional and international levels in the area of economic justice and women’s rights, in coordination with partner and allied organizations and in accordance with Oxfam’s approach of influence;
- Co-construct, together with Oxfam’s team in Peru, diverse organizations and collectives, social advocacy processes around the agenda of the Economic and Social Justice Axis and mainly on care work;
- Co-construct, together with the country team and partner organizations, strategic interventions around the economic justice and women’s rights agenda for its application to funding sources;
- Participate and contribute to the regional discussion on the agenda of inequalities, fiscal justice and care economy from the country program;
- Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process of the Oxfam office in Peru, promoting transformative leadership for the DDMM;
- Contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives that promote the DDMM for Oxfam’s Equality in Action program in the country;
- Contribute to program performance measurement in the application of feminist principles.
Accompanying and advising partners
- Lead the implementation of actions and enable spaces for dialogue on the care agenda, including coordination with the NGO partner Flora Tristan and other activist groups;
- Contribute to the strengthening of the articulation of civil society organizations, movements and diverse collectives, as well as their capacities and the conditions that facilitate processes of influence around the economic justice and women’s rights agenda and in accordance with the strategic needs of the country.
For this mandate you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
- Have university degree in economic sciences, social sciences, political sciences, project management, research, communications or any other relevant field;
- Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience;
- Have a good knowledge of economic and women’s rights issues;
- Be fluent in Spanish, spoken and written (required);
- Master the Office suite.
What we offer:
- Monthly allowance for living expenses;
- 20% increase in the allowance per accompanying child (maximum of 2children)
- 1,500$ CAD per year/per child for school fees;
- Monthly housing allowance;

- A volunteer support program during your mandate and up to two months after the end of your mandate;

Peru – Counselor on economic justice and women’s rights
This is a 12-month mission in Lima, Peru.

Working closely with Oxfam team members and in-country partners, your mandate will include:
Strengthening the intervention
- Contribute to the implementation of political and institutional advocacy processes in the three (03) results of the Economic and Social Justice Axis, in coordination with partner and allied organizations and in accordance with Oxfam’s influence approach;
- Contribute to the implementation of political and institutional advocacy processes at the national, regional and international level on economic justice and women’s rights, in coordination with partner and allied organizations and in accordance with Oxfam’s influence approach;
- Co-build, together with the Oxfam team in Peru, diverse organizations and groups, social advocacy processes around the agenda of the Economic and Social Justice Axis and mainly on care work;
- Co-build, together with the country team and partner organizations, strategic interventions around the economic justice and women’s rights agenda for application to financing sources;
- Participate and contribute to the regional discussion on the agenda of inequalities, fiscal justice and care economy from the country’s programmatic commitment;
- Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process of the Oxfam office in Peru, promoting transformative leadership by DDMM;
- Contribute to the design and execution of initiatives that promote DDMM for Oxfam’s Equality in Action program in the country;
- Contribute to the measurement of program performance in the application of feminist principles.
Accompaniment and advice to partners
- Lead the implementation of actions and enable spaces for dialogue on the care agenda, which includes coordination with the NGO partner Flora Tristán and other groups of activists;
- Contribute to strengthening the coordination of civil society organizations, movements and diverse groups, as well as their capacities and the conditions that facilitate influence processes around the agenda of economic justice and women’s rights and according to the needs strategic of the country.
For this mandate you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
- Have a university degree in economics, social sciences, political science, project management, research, communications or any other relevant field;
- Have at least 3 years of professional experience related to the mandate;
- Have a good knowledge of economic issues and women’s rights;
- Possess command of spoken and written Spanish (mandatory);
- Have proficiency in Microsoft Office.
What we offer:
- A monthly subsistence allowance for basic expenses;
- 20% increase in the allowance for each accompanying child (maximum of 2 children)
- $1,500 CAD per year/per child for school expenses;
- A monthly housing allowance;
- Round trip plane ticket with 2 suitcases in the hold;
- Round trip plane ticket for each accompanying child
- $200 CAD for additional luggage;
- Advantageous health insurance for you and your accompanying child(ren);
- A support program during his term and up to two months after the end of his term;
