Pilot At African Parks

BACKGROUND:

African Parks Network (APN) is managed the Chinko Conservation Area (a protected area) of 5’576’000 hectares following a 25 year – Public Private Partnership Agreement (PPP) signed in April 2020. The pilot will support the teams protecting it’s core area of 2’430’000 hectares (over 24,000 Square Kilometers). The mosaic of different ecosystems at this latitude of the African continent and the size of the intact vegetation make the Chinko an incredibly rich area with a unique composition of biodiversity and opportunities for ecological and evolutionary processes.

The CCA is an important area for endangered wildlife as well as a vast freshwater river ecosystem with complex interactions and is the only actively managed protected area in the remote east of the Central African Republic.

JOB OVERVIEW:

African Parks – RCA, engaged in the protection and rehabilitation of the Chinko Conservation Area in the Central African Republic, is looking for an experienced bush pilot for logistical and personnel movements including surveillance flights with Savannah S and Ventura 4. Situated in a challenging and remote locality, the position requires previous operational experience, strong leadership, patience and diplomatic skills.

The work of the pilot has different aspects from; monitoring of the movement of the cattle herders transiting from one area to another around CCA in the dry season searching for grazing land. In addition, general surveillance flights of the wildlife will be undertaken and also logistical flights to resupply teams on the ground.

Another task is to undertake flights into the neighbouring towns and villages.

The pilot will be lodged in the CCA headquarters, in the heart of the Conservation Area where the living conditions are remote but enjoyable. However, this require passion and a lot of personal flexibility and a high level of professionalism and safety.

Our surveillance fleet of constituted of 2 Savannah S and of a Ventura 4. In addition, we have a Cesna Caravan (C208).

Capabilities, competencies and experience needed

Necessary requirements:

· Minimum ICAO / FAA Commercial Licence

· Valid and current Instrument flight rating

· Valid and current night rating

· Valid C208 rating – minimum 100 hrs on type and 500 hrs turbine

· Valid Class I medical Certificate

· Valid CRM, DG and SEPT training

· 2000 hours TT minimum with min 500 hrs turbine and 100 hrs C208 for the Cessna Caravan

Desired experience:

· LSA aircrafts experience

· Low level/monitoring flights

· Wildlife knowledge

Preferred

· Savannah Airframe course completed

· Rotax engine course completed

· Certificates for both qualifications to be presented

· FAA CPL and C208 type rating with minimum 100 hours on type

A fully functioning C208 with:
