PIM Project Officer At Danish Refugee Council

The Danish Refugee Council/Danish Demining Group (DRC/DDG) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance with a rights-based approach to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees and migrants.

Background

Timely, reliable, and relevant data is essential to identify the risks, needs, vulnerabilities and capacities of affected people in displacement situations, and to plan appropriate action to respond to the same. For both ethical and practical reasons, it is more important than ever for humanitarian actors to collaborate on the generation and use of evidence for collective outcomes. This is made possible when protection and information management colleagues are able to effectively work together, guided by a shared understanding of agreed-upon principles, competencies, processes and systems.

Since its initiation in 2015, the Protection Information Management (PIM) Conceptual Framework has offered practitioners a suite of resources to support evidence-informed action for quality protection outcomes. Training on PIM is a key element to ensuring that protection and information management practitioners working in displacement situations possess the competencies needed to work with and apply the PIM Conceptual Framework in support of evidence-informed action for quality protection outcomes.

Managed by the Danish Refugee Council in collaboration with an inter-agency PIM Reference Group, the present Latin America PIM ‘capacity building learning project’ targets protection working groups (PWGs) and clusters organizations across Central and South America as well as regional protection and information management colleagues, with two objectives:
