About the Role
The role will form part of the DT Global Pacific Bilateral Management Team. Working to the Country Manager, the incumbent will have responsibility for the day-to-day oversight of the delivery of DT Global’s DFAT funded country programs in PNG. This role will work collaboratively with the Country Manager, Contractor Representatives and program teams, to position our programs deliver effectively in Papua New Guinea and achieve high quality outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the country manager to review and assess the strategic context across Papua New Guinea, identify implications for DT Global programming and ensure these are implemented
- Support the country manager to ensure team members have a clear understanding of the DT Global strategic plan and how this relates to program delivery in Papua New Guinea
- Provide technical support and development effectiveness guidance to other programs across the Pacific as needed
- Oversight of day-to-day management of the POM office, working closely with the Operations Manager who has responsibility for all operations issues
- Provide leadership of program management staff in-country: support the development of a team culture, support program managers to work through difficult issues
- Work as a contractor representative for at least one program and work collaboratively with the Senior Management team
- Oversight of DT Global corporate security on a day-to-day basis
- In the absence of the Country Manager in-being in country, engage with senior DFAT officials in Papua New Guinea to ensure program objectives are on track and client priorities are addressed.
- In consultation with colleagues, identify opportunities for coordination and cohesion across the PNG and Pacific portfolio of programs
- Contribute and identify new business development opportunities in the region
About You
Selection Criteria
Essential Experience and Knowledge
- Essential experience in and familiarity with managing contractors’ approaches and systems
- Leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to broker stakeholder relationships, work with and build the trust and respect of our client’s representatives
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks to program implementation and put in place necessary strategies
- Ability to identify underperformance in program delivery and have the vision and strategic clarity to put in place improvement mechanisms
- Strong management expertise, with an ability to support DT Global teams to identify priorities and set work plans
- An understanding or appreciation of DT Global’s priorities in Papua New Guinea and ability to communicate and translate these priorities to team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively to identify opportunities for efficiency and cohesion across the PNG portfolio
