Power Apps Developer At Norwegian Refugee Council

Context

NRC’s global strategic plan for 2022 – 2025 includes Digital Transformation as a strategic enabler for the organisation and a key element in expanding the reach of our assistance towards the 2030 ambition. Within the Digital Transformation roadmap, data is recognised as a fundamental component of what we do and how we do it. As data becomes readily available, internal and external reporting burden on staff should significantly reduce and insights must inform decision-making.

In 2020, NRC created the Centre of Excellence for Data and Analytics (CoE) to promote and support data use across the organisation, including building capacity, processes and products. The CoE team is responsible for designing and developing data products that improve the organisation’s use of data, while increasing data quality and access to common data sets.

An emerging component of NRC’s data strategy is to enable and support a Do-It-Yourself approach where NRC staff are encouraged to build their own PowerBI and PowerApp-based capabilities and solutions. The role of the Developer will assist in building key enterprise-wide solutions as well as serving as a data coach and first point of contact for staff needing support. You will help guide users throughout their Do-It-Yourself journey, including introducing training resources, the tools, standards, and best practices. What you will do

You will also support the Product lead in working with NRC departments and offices to help them scope their data projects, while identifying opportunities for the organisation to standardize and consolidate data workflows.

Some of your key tasks will include:

  • Design, develop and maintain applications in Power Apps. Including Canvas and Model Driven Apps.
  • Manage and administer Power Apps release processes and mentor other members of the team and share best practise.
  • Review technical requirements, validate assumptions, and test prototypes during development of the assigned project.
  • Contribute to developing and disseminating guidance and guardrails on the use of Power Platform solutions.
  • Help facilitate a community of practice to promote “citizen developers”.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience with IT projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related subjects, or demonstrable expertise in the field.
  • Advanced analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working with a geographically distributed team, and can easily work with non-technical colleagues
  • Capable of operating in an “Agile” environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Other languages are an asset.

ABOUT US

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. We work in crises across more than 31 countries, providing emergencies and long-term assistance to millions of people every year. We stand up for people forced to flee, advocating their rights. NORCAP, our global provider of expertise, helps improve international and local ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from crises. NRC also runs the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, a global leader in reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country.

Employment with NRC may lead to employment in or deployment to Regions, Countries, Areas or Offices that may be host to considerable health, safety and security risks. NRC takes this very seriously and we have procedures in place to reduce known risks, but will never be able to take away all risks.

NRC is an equal opportunities employer and aims to have staffing diversity in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, nationality and physical ability.
