Founded in 1945, CARE is one of the world’s largest humanitarian networks, apolitical and non-denominational. Our mission is to fight extreme poverty. CARE implements emergency and development projects in complementary areas: education, food security, health, drinking water, development of income-generating activities by involving communities and collaborating with local partners. CARE defends women’s rights and supports their empowerment. In 2023, CARE France intervened in 51 countries and is in charge of managing CARE International’s country offices in Lebanon, Cameroon and Madagascar. The annual volume of resources is €67 million. The team brings together 75 employees based at the Headquarters and around twenty expatriates. Mission Description
The objective of the mission:
Reporting directly to the communications department, you manage CARE France’s media awareness and the dissemination of our messages. Your goal is to increase CARE France’s media awareness.
Your mission will be to:
Press Relations:
- Development of media strategies adapted to the annual and one-off objectives (specific campaigns) of CARE France’s awareness, particularly around the themes of climate, gender, humanitarian action
- Identification and preparation of the association’s spokespersons, including the two co-DGs
- Proposal and implementation of mechanisms for implementing this strategy and analysis of the results
- Animation of the press and influence network (management and expansion of the journalist and partner database, writing of press releases, proactive coordination of interviews, setting up of press conferences, monitoring and setting up of collaborations/press trips/virtual or physical mobilizations)
- Be a driving force for pushing for greater diversity of innovations in terms of media relations with teamwork and coordination within CARE France and sometimes our international CARE network
- Propose a strategy and manage media emergencies and crisis communication – evening and weekend availability where appropriate
- Train CARE France and CARE International teams in media speaking, particularly advocacy and program teams
- Represent CARE France in CARE International network media meetings
- Ensure quarterly and annual reporting on the scope
- Ensure the rotating permanence of the media telephone
Campaigning or citizen mobilization actions:
- He/She contributes to the reflection on the development and positioning of campaigning within the Communications department in collaboration with the advocacy department, with a view to efficiency and continuous improvement.
- He/she participates in the implementation of campaigning actions in connection with the advocacy service
- He/she ensures the media coverage of these operations
Profile sought
Experience / Training:
- Bac + 4 in communication, journalism or political science
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in media relations in an NGO or agency
Languages: Fluent French and English
SKILLS :
- Excellent knowledge of media
- Very good network in the media
- Excellent writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills with journalists
- Knowledge of CP management tools is a plus
- Analytical and synthetic mindset
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of CARE’s areas of intervention or themes would be a plus (climate, gender, location, humanitarian, etc.)
- Knowledge of associative issues or international solidarity is a plus

Please note that CARE intervenes in humanitarian emergencies, so you must be available to work occasionally outside office hours (with the possibility of making up these hours later, of course).
Terms and conditions
Type of contract : Permanent contract (CDI)
Status : Executive
Working hours : 212 days per year (fixed days)
Desired start date: ASAP (please indicate your availability)
Salary: between €41,604.54 and €43,338.06 gross per year depending on profile
Benefits: mutual insurance covered 100% by CARE France; meal vouchers with a face value of €9, of which €5 is covered by CARE France; 75% reimbursement of public transport network subscriptions or sustainable mobility package; possibility of partial teleworking from the 3rd week of the contract (package of 40 or 80 days of teleworking in the first year; 120 days from one year of seniority).
Place of work : CARE France headquarters, 71 rue Archereau – 75 019 Paris.
Travel to be expected : occasional
