POSITION SUMMARY:

Effective with the release of this position announcement, Winrock International is recruiting applicants for the Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Officer position for the USAID Thailand Counter Trafficking in Persons (CTIP) project. The five-year USAID Thailand CTIP project is an anticipated extension of an existing five-year project and will build off existing work to address the root causes of human trafficking, advocate and protect vulnerable populations from trafficking and abuse, prevent at-risk populations from risky migration, and assist the Royal Thai Government in reforms needed to effectively combat trafficking and supporting victims.

The Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Officer will support the design and implementation of private sector partnerships to reduce worker vulnerability to trafficking, particularly in high-risk industries such as agriculture, construction, and domestic work. The PSE Officer will support the development of private sector engagement strategy, coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure project implementation meets strategic goals, and provide inputs to help program staff, partners, and grantees establish fruitful collaboration with private sector partners at the national and sub-national levels.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the PSE Manager, the PSE Officer is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of the private sector engagement strategy of the USAID Thailand CTIP project. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Conduct research to identify potential private sector partnership opportunities;
  • Contribute to concept notes and/or private sector partnership proposals;
  • Engage private sector partners at the international, national, and sub-national levels;
  • Coordinate with relevant partners to ensure that activities designed under private sector partnerships are implemented according to defined goals;
  • Consolidate data from relevant partners and communicate project progress to private sector partners;
  • Monitor relevant updates in target industries and relevant regulations and international standards facing private sector to ensure an understanding of contextual factors facing private sector;
  • Provide high-quality written technical inputs for the project’s workplan, quarterly and annual reports, and other technical/reporting documents;
  • Work with the PSE Manager to support other program staff and/or partners to identify private sector partnership opportunities, as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience:
    • The ideal candidate will have experience in working on issues related to the intersection of business and international development, whether from the private sector or the nonprofit sector. The candidate should have a general understanding of human trafficking and the implications of human trafficking for businesses. Candidates with specific experience in the agriculture, construction, and domestic work industries will be highly preferred.
  • Education:
    • Degree in business, social science, international development, or other relevant field.
  • Skills/Knowledge:
    • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills;
    • Self-starter motivated to learn and adapt;
    • Ability to work independently and effectively within tight deadlines;
    • Proven experience working in fast-paced environments, multitasking, and coordinating among internal and external stakeholders to drive activities forward;
    • Excellent communication and writing skills, with fluency in English and Thai;
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in Thai. Respectful and professional, particularly when working with diverse cultures and populations, and on sensitive topics.
