We are seeking a Producer / Correspondent (f/m/d) for our DW Bureau Beirut in Lebanon as of 1 May 2024 or as soon as possible on the basis of a full-time local staff contract limited for two years.
YOUR CHALLENGES
- reporting and analyzing on current events in Lebanon and at times as well across the Middle East (politics, economy, culture) for all Deutsche Welle outlets (Arabic, English)
- preparing and researching news stories for TV, online and social media
- producing reports and background packages (TV, online, social media) from Beirut
- live interviews and broadcasts (Arabic, English)
- producing content, shooting, and editing videos for various social media platforms
- newsgathering (press conferences, briefings, daily breaking news, competitors´ publications, etc.)
- organization of DW coverage of news events
- supporting the news programs Arabic and English, including guest booking and logistic preparation for live shots
- assist the Bureau Chief with other tasks as needed to ensure the smooth functioning of the bureau
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- completed university studies as well as completed traineeship or comparable journalistic qualification
- several years of journalistic experience
- experience as video journalist and mobile reporter
- prior experience as a correspondent, preferably reporting from the Middle East
- ability to analyse political and geostrategic contexts
- very good knowledge of the MENA news agenda
- high social media affinity and expert proficiency in the use of various social media platforms
- excellent language skills in both English and Arabic, additional German skills an advantage
- excellent planning and organization skills with a proactive, pragmatic, and hands-on approach and ability to work under pressure
- ability to work in interdisciplinary and diverse teams, high level of intercultural sensitivity and respect for diversity
- willingness to travel in the region
