Program Analyst At Solina Group

Solina Health is an indigenous nonprofit institution that works to accelerate positive health, social and economic reforms through high-quality program design and implementation, capacity building, implementation science research and knowledge generation, as well as agenda-setting and stakeholder convening across human development sectors. Our work seeks to benefit primarily disadvantaged and under-served populations. We implement transformation programs in Nigeria and are currently expanding our footprint to several West and Central African countries. The Program Analyst will provide day-to-day analytical support to the SAB Regional EPI team and other partners in Guinea Bissau. S/he will strengthen the EPI management coordination at the SAB region to drive effective immunization program implementation and ultimately improve coverage, including the roll-out of an urban immunization strategy. The role holder will also support the documentation of lessons learned to influence policy and practice.

Technical Responsibilities – Program Support
Program implementation

  1. Develop a tailored operational plan to drive SAB’s urban immunization program in line with the National comprehensive multi-year plan (cMYP), including an initial rapid assessment of EPI in the region;
  2. Develop the monitoring and accountability framework with clear and realistic targets to guide performance monitoring of the EPI program;
  3. Design and deploy simple dashboards for monitoring and accountability of key indicators;
  4. Provide program management support for the day-to-day implementation of the urban immunization initiative in SAB;
  5. Participate in supportive supervision, spot checks, validation checks, and other field visits to districts, health facilities and immunization service points in the region;
  6. Strengthen the region’s data systems to generate high-quality immunization data and ensure that the data is used for effective decision-making;
  7. Analyze vaccine stock performance data to guide optimal distribution and ensure there are no stock-outs;
  8. Coach the SAB EPI team on data analyses best practices and use of data for action;

Program Monitoring and Reporting

  1. Institute a system for the documentation of lessons learned in the implementation of the urban strategy for immunization;
  2. Develop policy briefs, case studies, and research products suitable for publication;
  3. Facilitate the dissemination of knowledge products to all stakeholders to influence policy and practice;

Required competencies

The right candidate for this role should demonstrate a passion for improving health outcomes in low resource settings. In addition, S/he will possess a can-do spirit, deploy a results-driven approach, and drive change on the EPI program while ensuring s/he maintains a good relationship with the SAB EPI management team through savvy and humility.

  3. Advanced computer usage skills with proficiency in Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics and use, programme management, operational planning, and performance management cycles and processes;
  5. Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization with demonstrated people and relationship management skills;
  6. Demonstrated experience in the development of policy briefs, case studies, and research products suitable for publication;
  7. Fast learner, open to learning from peers, subordinates, and supervisors collaboratively and at a rapid pace;
  8. Demonstrated evidence of cultural fit and comfort in Guinea Bissau or similar resource-limited setting;
  9. Strong verbal and written communications skills – in English and Portuguese;
  10. Must be resident in Guinea Bissau

Education and Experience

  1. Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Policy and Strategy Development, Administration, Health Management or similarly relevant field;
  2. Three (3) years of progressive experience working in relevant health programs, with a good understanding of data analytics and stakeholder management. Previous management consulting and/or EPI experience is an added advantage

Terms of Engagement

The Program Analyst will be engaged for a 12-month period over which S/he will support the EPI team to execute roles and responsibilities captured above. The work will be executed at the SAB EPI Office in the capital city, Bissau. Field visits will be undertaken as necessary to the programme’s deliverables. The Analyst will receive a fixed monthly fee/salary for his/her effort. Logistics costs of any required field visits will also be covered.
