POSITION BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:

In Tshikapa, the WFP intervenes in 10 health zones in activities for the management of moderate acute malnutrition, the prevention of acute malnutrition, infant and young child feeding integrated into CBT and GFD. The nutrition program associate will provide support to the program by carrying out the various tasks.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (indicative and non-exhaustive list):

Under the direct responsibility of the Nutrition Program Manager, the Nutrition Program Assistant performs the following tasks:

  1. Enter Nutrition agreements ( F ield  L evel  A greement {FLA}), encode them in COMET (WFP’s tool for designing and implementing programs and improving operational performance { C ountry  O ffice  M onitoring and  E valuation  T ool}) and take action in WINGS ( WFP Information N etwork  and  G lobal  S ystem})
  2. Monitor and manage the Nutritional Product Pipeline (produce FRNs {Food required notes}, monitoring of distribution plans, monitoring of the stock situation in Tshikapa and in coordination with the Country Office and Kananga);
  3. Encode monthly distribution reports in COMET;
  4. Update the nutritional data base;
  5. Plan meetings and training with CPs in nutrition;
  6. Data reconciliation (COMET & LESS ( Logistics Execution S ystem : Supply chain and monitoring system for WFP products, as well as  CP reports  ;
  7. Strengthen the capacities of partners on the reporting and management of inputs;
  8. Based on the distribution plan, prepare food delivery processes in coordination with the Supply Chain unit;
  9. Regularly organize follow-up missions to observe and evaluate the management of food and/or non-food items (NFI { N on  F ood  Items }) by the partner as well as the evolution of distributions in the various nutrition activities in the areas of intervention, identify technical recommendations for improving the quality of the program;
  10. Organize monthly follow-up meetings with the cooperation partner;
  11. Accompany and strengthen the capacities of cooperation partners for the adequate implementation of WFP interventions (treatment of moderate acute malnutrition, prevention);
  12. Produce a monthly activity monitoring narrative report and provide “inputs” for the production of the office report;
  13. Cooperate closely with the coordination of the joint program, with the other United Nations agencies (FAO, Unicef), the Provincial coordination of the national nutrition program / Provincial Health Directorate, the Provincial Health Inspectorate (IPS) and NGOs ( Non –  G overnmental O rganizations  ) involved in nutrition by participating in technical nutrition platforms (“Nutrition Cluster, Food Security, etc.)
  14. Perform other tasks requested by the hierarchy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Formation:

  • The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree / diploma in nutrition.

Experience wanted:

  • Have at least six (06) years of professional experience in nutrition programs with a desired link in the humanitarian sector.
  • Be trained in PCIMA (Integrated Management of Malnutrition), IYCF (Infant and young child feeding) and NAC (Nutrition assessment, counseling and support: Nutritional assessment, advice and support).
  • Have strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, with essential administrative skills.
  • Have computer knowledge (Excell, Power Point, database).

Knowledge and skills:

  • A working knowledge of one of the local languages ​​(Tshiluba; Lingala) is required.

Languages:

  • Mastery (Level C) of French both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of English (Level B).
