Program Director At Food for the Hungry

Position Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for strategic leadership, development and overseeing execution of Food for the Hungry Uganda’s humanitarian and development programs; ensuring alignment to the country and FH’s global strategic plan. This positi on is responsible for managing the programs unit including all operational areas ensuring overall program quality, effectiveness, accountability, risk management in accordance with development/humanitarian core standards and FH’s standard s and principles. The Program Director is a member of Country Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and participates in regular SLT meetings according to the SLT charter and schedules. This position supervises a team of between 5-9 staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Key result # 1 – Strategy Development and Program Design (30%)**
  • Key result # 2 – Provide Leadership and management of FH Uganda Programs (30%)
  • Key result # 3 – Representation and External Relations (10%)**
  • Key result # 4 – Staff and financial management (30%)

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in development studies or related field with at least 10 years of experience in managing and implementing programs in the development sector, 5 of which should be in a senior management position within an INGO set up.
  • A Postgraduate diploma in project planning and management and a master’s degree in the relevant field is a requirement for this job.
  • Proven experience with USG / USAID/DFID/UN/Corporations and general donor relationships
  • Proven strategic planning and project management experience in a humanitarian/development environment using both grants and private funds
  • Proven budget management experience coupled with experience in implementing and working in accordance with corporate structures, policies, and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of project design and implementation including tracking and managing program delivery, proposal- writing, budgeting, and financial management.
