Program Interns At Save the Children

PROGRAM INTERNS – (10)

Save the Children International is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill the positions of Program Interns in the Abwenzi A Ana project. Abwenzi A Ana is an integrated program with a range of interventions like health, education, child protection and livelihoods. The Interns will be responsible for implementing field level sponsorship program interventions in line with set performance targets and SCI Sponsorship policies, procedures and standards. The Interns will be expected to provide greater interface between Save the Children on one hand and children, their parents/guardians, their communities, community program volunteers and other relevant community level stakeholders. The interns will be the first point of call for daily implementation, support to program volunteers and core groups.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the interns will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Community Development, Social Sciences, Adult and Community Education or related field.
  • At least 2 years working experience implementing development projects. Those with experience implementing Maternal New-born Health and Nutrition, Early Childhood, Basic Education, Ending Child Marriages and Child Protection projects will have an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in local language of the area, a must.
  • Must have experience in riding motorcycle and a driving licence.

Desired:

  • Thorough understanding of Save the Children working principles and approaches of Child Participation, Child Rights Programming, Partnership, Child Safeguarding, Zero Tolerance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Programme Integration etc.
  • A motorbike driving licence, ability and willingness to ride is a MUST.
  • Willingness to reside at Traditional Authority level is a MUST.
  • Demonstrable planning and budget management skills a MUST.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in a local environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including facilitation, influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
  • Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a MUST.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours as the job demands

Contract Duration: 5 Months
