IM works in six regions, including the Middle East, all over the world together with partners to strengthen democracy and to promote absolute equality. In each region we have the role of enabler, connecter and catalyst for societal change based on a strong partner ecosystem and contextual respect and knowledge. We base our work on a rights-based approach and we work with Social Inclusion, Economic Inclusion, Capacity of Civil Society and Enabling Space for Civil Society.
IM has been working in the Middle East since the late 1960s. At present IM in the Middle East works with local partner organizations in Jordan, Palestine and regionally in the areas of disability, youth and women’s rights. We have staff based in Jordan and Palestine. IM wishes to recruit a development program professional.
This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong commitment to the values and mission of fighting poverty, inequality and exclusion and a strong believer in societal change to come on board with a credible NGO, doing excellent right based work in Jordan and the region.
Your role
As a Program Manager you are responsible for partner accompaniment around networking and developing of partner ecosystem in accordance with IM’s overall strategic plan 2019-2023 and build strategic alliances and network using partner’s grassroots actions, learning, research and advocacy ability.
You will have the opportunity to design, plan and implement interventions that contribute to sustainable societal change in the countries we operate in. You will also be responsible for managing the partnership with different type of partners within the region in accordance with IM’s approach to partnership, strategic processes and qualitative requirements.
In addition, you will be involved in various internal processes, as well as actively participate in IM working groups together with colleagues in the global IM family. There is no staff management responsibilities as a Program Manager. You report to the Regional Director for the Middle East.
Your profile
Requirements
· You have 3-7 years of relevant experience of development cooperation – preferably in supporting civil society organizations as agents of change
· You possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
· You have the ability to travel for work to other countries in the region
Personal skills
· You have strong analytical skills
· You have good networking skills
· You are a team player that find it easy to collaborate with colleagues and others
· You are flexible and adaptable, and can take initiatives in finding solutions that brings about results
It’s a plus if you have
· In-depth understanding of current political, economic, social conditions and historical context of the Middle East in general and Jordan and/or Palestine in particular.
· Experience from work with different kind of development actors and/or in Civil society organizations
· Understanding of methodologies and institutional capacity building of Civil society organizations and their strategies
· Experience of working with resilience, gender mainstreaming, environmental & climate change and/or conflict sensitivity
· Good knowledge of the SDGs
· Experience of developing and monitoring effective advocacy strategies
· Good knowledge of digital security
· Experience from seeking external funding

Additional information
Placement: Amman, Jordan with occasional travels to other countries in the region.
Extent: One-year contract, extended based on performance and mutual agreement. 3 months initial probation period.
