Program Officer and Burundi Development – VSI At PLAY International

PLAY International is looking for its program and development manager for the Play International mission in Burundi.

The takeover is scheduled for May / June 2023

Place of employment: Bujumbura, Burundi. Possibility of ad hoc visits to Rwanda.

PLAY International

PLAY International is a French NGO founded in 1999 on a conviction: sport is a source of solutions to meet our societal challenges. PLAY International’s main mission is to design and implement education and inclusion projects for children and young people in vulnerable situations, using sports as an educational tool. The NGO works in particular on issues such as access to and retention in school, equality between girls and boys, reconciliation of communities, health prevention – eat well – move well – sleep well – use the screens well, change of look at disability … Since its creation,PLAY International has implemented educational and humanitarian projects in France and internationally in more than 20 countries for the benefit of nearly ’ 1 million children. Today, the association relies on 5 missions in Burundi, Comoros, France, Kosovo and Senegal. PLAY International is a member of the SOS Group.

Responsibilities and missions

1. Program support

  • Support the organization of field activities in connection with Program Managers and Pedagogical Manager
  • Support for writing narrative reports

2. Partnership management

  • Contributes to the drafting of partnership agreements
  • Coordinate the mapping and identification of partners in Burundi and Rwanda
  • Facilitates, supervises and organizes the skills development of local project partners.
  • Facilitates contact with local partners
  • Actively offers and builds structuring partnerships

3. Support for fundraising and donor relations

  • Participate in the strategic programmatic reflection of the Burundi-Rwanda mission
  • In connection with the Program and Pedagogy teams, identifies field needs, proposes new programs and strategic axes
  • Support the Head of Mission in mapping and identifying donors in Burundi and Rwanda
  • Participate in the drafting of project proposals, including structuring tools such as the logical framework, chronogram / retro planning, budget, in conjunction with colleagues from the cluster, headquarters and missions / partners
  • Support the identification and contact with potential donors, in conjunction with the Head of Mission and the Director of Operations
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets

4. Support to the Head of Mission

  • Support the head of mission on various tasks related to the country strategy

Compétences

  • Excellentes capacités rédactionnelles en français et en anglais
  • Esprit de synthèse
  • Fort intérêt pour les secteurs de l’associatif, du sport et du développement international
  • Connaissance du cycle de projet
  • Maîtrise du pack office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellentes relations inter-personnelles et capacité d’échange avec des interlocuteurs variés (partenaires locaux, bailleurs institutionnels…)
  • Esprit analytique et stratégique

Formation

  • Niveau de formation initiale nécessaire : Bac + 5 minimum en filière développement internationale, gestion de projet développement/humanitaire, gestion financière, ou équivalent

Expérience

  • Expérience en expatriation appréciée, particulièrement dans des contextes similaires
  • Experience of at least 1 year in an NGO in a partnership management / fundraising role

Conditions

  • Taking up positions: April / May 2023
  • VSI d ’ 1 year.
  • Indemnities: 800 euros
