DRC has been operating in Italy since June 2019, first through local civil society actors then with a DRC set-up in 2020. DRC approach in Italy is based on localisation, developing meaningful and efficient partnerships with local actors, mantaining a core structure with limited staff in the country. Through joint implementation, DRC and partners support refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move specifically in the Norther part of the country, through legal aid and integration projects in border areas and urban areas. DRC Italy mantains a strong affiliation to DRC Europe Region and contributes to European programming and partnerships. Specific ties also exist with DRC Greece and DRC Bosnia and Herzegovina offices.
About the job
The Programme and Communication Intern supports the implementation of all DRC Programme activities targeting migrants and refugees in Italy. He/She works closely with the Programme Coordinator, providing support in the management of projects, the monitoring of call for proposals and drafting of applications as well as in reporting activities. Further, the intern supports the Offices in its Communication tasks such as management of social media pages, preparation of promotional materials and campaigns.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Programme Coordinator in ensuring the well-functioning of all projects’ activities, in their strategic, programmatic and logistics aspects.
- Under the direction of the Programme Coordinator, assist the programme reporting tasks for both internal and external purposes. This includes providing weekly and monthly reports supported by monitoring and evaluation tools and support coordination with DRC partners.
- Provide technical support to communication activities (management of social media pages, preparation of promotional materials and campaigns).
- Support fundraising tasks, including the monitoring of call for proposals (public, private) and drafting funding applications.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive files of activities, outputs, materials, and other relevant documentation, and provide ongoing general monitoring of the operating context to ensure relevance and accountability to DRC’s beneficiary populations.
Experience and technical competencies:
- Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team in a demanding work environment.
- Accuracy and care in the management of one’s duties.
- Excellent knowledge in the use of Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven ability to work on video and photo editing software aimed at communication objectives (e.g Infographics, banners for SoMe etc).
- Excellent communication skills, even in written form, and strong predisposition to interpersonal relationships
- Familiarity with issues relating to Migration in the Italian and European context. Experience working with mixed migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and/or internally displaced persons is a strong asset.
Education:
Master’s degree in development studies, social work, and social sciences or another relevant field

We offer
Contract length: 6 months (renewal possible). This is a national position. We can accept international candidates under the condition of having the right to live and work in Italy during the contract period and having full Italian proficiency.
Designation of Duty Station: Turin
Start date: April 2022
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for DRC Italy and with Italian labour law; Expected salary is approx. at 900 EUR gross / month, depending on individual assessment of the candidate experience.
