Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support in facilitating the timely and effective execution of of MHPSS project activities and operational plans, including mental health awareness campaigns, workshops, and trainings.
2. Provide adequate MHPSS services for identified migrants, through screening, direct assistance, and activities for stress management, individual counselling, family mediation, other group interventions and arts-therapeutic approaches.
3. Support the development of trainings on Psychological First Aid (PFA), basic psychosocial support and psychosocial activities for IOM staff dealing with beneficiaries, interpreters, healthcare workers, community leaders and/or focal points to identify, assess, and assist vulnerable migrants.
4. Assist to identify MHPSS needs of designated groups and communities and suggest activities in accordance with their needs.
5. Ensure that the confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data and project information is highly maintained
6. Provide analytical reports on the support offered to identified persons in need of MHPSS and all activities implemented.
7. Perform MHPSS assessment sessions before referral to psychiatrist.
8. Perform any other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology clinical psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
- Secondary School education with five years of relevant professional experience
- Post-graduate studies in Psychology, Sociology and/or Psychosocial Support in emergency settings is an advantage.
Experience
- Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage
Skills
- Knowledge of the broad range of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
- Knowledge of mental health care and psychosocial support provider.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required (Oral and written).
- Working knowledge of French is desirable.
