Programme Coordinator for Syria – Humanitarian Response & Mine Action At DanChurchAid

DanChurchAid (DCA) invites applications for a Programme Coordinator based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The HRMA (Humanitarian Response and Mine Action) Programme Coordinator (PC) will be providing support to our operations in Syria. This is an all-rounder position where you have to juggle many different tasks ranging from administrative tasks to top-line strategy development, often with very short deadlines.

The position has three key functions:

  • Core operational support to the operations in delivering on annual plans, as well as supporting compliance and organisational policy alignment.
  • Act as liaison between country office (CO) and HQ, and where relevant represents COs in HQ-level conversations to ensure that key operational and country level aspects are considered.
  • Leads or supports selected (time-bound) ‘projects’ including but not limited to the country programme development process, development of thematic areas in collaboration with relevant technical advisors, identification of more areas for strategic country overlap, synergies and cross-learning, and the provision of surge support in establishing new operations in non-DCA countries.

This is a temporary position for 6 months, but it may be extended.

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum of 3 years of NGO work experience, ideally working in conflict areas

    Cultural sensitivity and the ability to build relations both within and outside DCA

  • A clear understanding of programme and finance management, incl. project/programme management cycles
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic or French would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to areas where we work, incl. insecure areas
