Programme Development Officer, Iraq
- Based in Iraq, Erbil (with regular travel to field locations)
- 12 Month Fixed Term, with opportunity to renew.
- Reporting to: Country Director, Mission East Iraq (with regular oversight from HQ Programme Manager)
Mission East is an international relief and development organisation working in crisis-affected countries in the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Asia. We deliver emergency relief during disasters as well as long-term development assistance. Mission East is based on Christian values and works to support vulnerable people and help local communities lift themselves out of poverty and marginalisation. We work directly with our beneficiaries or through local and international partners. We constantly strive to strengthen the relevance, effect and sustainability of our programmes.
In Iraq, Mission East provides assistance to conflict affected populations including internally displaced people, remainees and returnees. Our current programme includes NFI, shelter improvements, WASH assistance, livelihoods support and protection through psychosocial support activities delivered at multi-purpose community centres and targeting children, youth, women and communities in need overall Mission East is currently active in Ninewa and Kirkuk Governorates.

The Programme Development Officer’s role is to enhance and develop in-country capacity for programme development through the provision of support to proposal development, grant management and reporting and networking. We’re looking for an individual who brings experience of working with in an international capacity with INGOs in both humanitarian and development settings, preferably including Iraq/ Middle East. With proven experience in developing and winning proposals to solicit donor funding, you will also demonstrate experience of producing high quality reports for internal and external purposes, including for institutional donors. Knowledge and application of best practices in grant making is essential and we’ll be looking for evidence of excellent proposal development and report writing skills, an ability to handle qualitative and quantitative data, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to Mission East’s vision, mission and values.
Ideally, we anticipate that a successful candidate will be available to commence in this role as soon as possible.
