Trócaire works in partnership with national, local and church organisations, supporting communities in over 20 developing countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to bring about lasting change. Trócaire envisages a just and peaceful world where people’s dignity is ensured and rights are respected, basic needs are met and resources are shared equitably, people have control over their own lives and those in power act for the common good.
Protection of Women and Girls programming (including specialised GBV response, mitigation and prevention) is a core element of Trócaire’s global humanitarian programme. Through this, Trócaire supports local partners to deliver multi-sectoral GBV response programming, with a core focus on women- and girl-centred Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, including community-based support (Women’s and Girls’ Safe Spaces and PSS groups), focused support (GBV case management, individual and group based focused PSS) and specialised support (individual psychosocial interventions provided by Clinical Social Workers and Clinical Psychologists specialised in GBV). Trócaire is a member of the GBV Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR), the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies and the Irish Consortium on Gender-Based Violence.
Central to Trócaire’s programming approach, and a key priority in Trócaire’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, is to support the voice and leadership of local organisations – particularly women-centred organisations and women-led organisations. Helping to advance this commitment, Trócaire is the implementing partner in a new programme, managed by the GBV AoR (hosted by UNFPA) that aims to strengthen systemwide GBV in Emergencies (GBViE) coordination and response capacity. Trócaire will focus on strengthening the participation and leadership of local women-centred organisations in GBV coordination structures in humanitarian settings, in close coordination with the GBV AoR. This programme aims to enhance and drive systemic learning and change, addressing barriers identified through the global mapping study on GBV localisation in humanitarian contexts.[1] This will include supporting women-centred organisations to co-lead GBV sub-clusters, with accompanying participatory learning and action, peer to peer learning exchanges and resource development on women’s leadership to support sector-wide learning and adaptation.
The Programme Lead – GBViE Learning Coordination is a dynamic new role for a GBViE specialist who will have responsibility for leading on the overall management and implementation of this intervention in line with donor, UNFPA and Trócaire standards. This requires a diverse skill set (e.g. grant management, technical GBViE and coordination experience, capacity strengthening skills, participatory learning and facilitation, and resource development). For the candidate with the required experience and passion for the role, Trócaire offers a competitive package of salary and benefits.
This is a fixed-term contract for 14 months, subject to final confirmation of donor funding, reporting to the Global Director – Partnership and Localisation, with a dotted line to the Humanitarian Technical Unit. This nationally-contracted role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with travel to programme locations.
Safeguarding Programme Participants-Children & Adults
Trócaire is committed to Safeguarding people within our programmes from Exploitation and Abuse and has specific policies on this commitment (including a Global Code of Conduct) which outlines the expected behaviour and responsibility of all staff, consultants and other organisational representatives. Any candidate offered a job with Trócaire will be expected to sign Trócaire’s Safeguarding Policies and Global Code of Conduct as an appendix to their contract of employment and agree to conduct themselves in accordance with the provisions of these documents.
