InterEuropean Human Aid Association (IHA) is looking to recruit a full-time Programme Manager to start in early April 2024. The Programme Manager is a key member of the Greece Management Team, acting as a focal point for local, regional and international partners, providing operational oversight, and serving as the main link between IHA’s back office and its team in Greece. The position is largely office-based. The Programme Manager contributes to the running of IHA’s projects by providing administrative and HR support, strategic guidance, organisational representation, and advisory support in the development and implementation of projects. The Programme Manager is a key contributor to the running of IHA’s operations, ensuring that projects fit in with the organisation’s objectives, and driving its further professionalisation and growth.
The Programme Manager works closely alongside the Logistics Manager, Project Manager and Team Manager, and reports to the Head of Programmes (remote based, part-time). IHA has a semi-flat hierarchical structure, meaning that there is cooperation and dialogue across the organisation. The ideal candidate is intrinsically motivated, adaptable, passionate about the cause, and able to work on their own initiative and with limited supervision in a challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities
Human resources:
- Act as the designated safeguarding lead for IHA’s team in Greece
- Oversee adherence to, training on and further development of IHA’s policy framework
- Manage and oversee the recruitment and onboarding of management positions in IHA according to safer recruitment guidelines in cooperation with the Head of Programmes
Partnerships:
- Organisational representation, focal point for local, regional and international partners
- Lead in maintaining existing relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration
- Administrative tasks related to partnerships including agreements and external reporting
Programmes:
- Project evaluation, development and implementation of M&E tools
- Lead role in ensuring safety and security of projects and team, developing risk assessments
- Support Project Managers with the development and implementation of projects in line with organisational strategy, policies and budget
- Contribute to formulating medium to long term strategic objectives and monitor progress in cooperation with the Head of Programmes and Greece Management Team
General administration:
- Responsible for organisation’s properties including building maintenance, contracts and bills
- Liaise with accountants, lawyers, landlords and repair technicians
- Support Head of Programmes with legal and accounting responsibilities related to IHA’s Greek branch
Applicant Profile
Essential:
- Willing to relocate to Thessaloniki, Greece
- At least 3 years of experience in team/project management within a humanitarian aid project
- Ability to set priorities and think strategically across the short, medium and long term
- Able to spot opportunities for growth and quality improvement, able to solve challenges and create solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent command of English language
- Working knowledge of Greek language (as required for written and verbal communication with landlords, repair technicians, accountants, lawyers and the local community)
- Strong independent work ethic and hands-on mentality
- Highly motivated and passionate about IHA’s work
- Strong interest and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece
- Strong interpersonal, relationship management and negotiation skills
- Adept at working in variable context, comfortable with unpredictability and change
- To maintain organisational stability we are looking for a commitment of at least 6 months. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit for longer
- Must be eligible to legally reside in Greece (we are not able to sponsor visas)
Desired:
- Driving licence (class B) valid in Greece. Confident driving regularly a 7-seater or a van
- Excellent command of Greek language including formal written communication
