Purpose of role
Sightsavers are recruiting a Programme Officer to support the Global Labour Programme. (GLP) Managing activities and relationships with key stakeholders; planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating each stage using best practice to meet expected standards.
About the role
- Working closely with the Chief of Party and senior team members to coordinate implementation of activities
- Liaising with the Global Technical Leads, participating in the design and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation framework
- Advocacy around the programme’s goals and the GLP consortium’s work
- Building strong relationships and supporting partners throughout the programme lifecycle to close out, promoting shared learning
- Supporting programme partners with budget and forecast preparation, monitoring expenditure of financial resources
- Providing appropriate materials and information for the GLP Management Unit in Kenya to utilise for donor reporting requirements
- Participating in all PR activities promoting disability inclusive employment
Job holder requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in social sciences/education/development studies/public health or equivalent
- Able to showcase experience with labour market issues, including assessments, skills training, disability inclusion
- A track record of implementing programmes within the disability sector and gender mainstreaming
- Experienced providing technical assistance to other organisations
- Working experience of designing data capture strategies and analysing data using MS Excel
- Strong communication, IT skills
- Able to work flexibly in a team
Desirable:
- Previous experience with a USAID funded programme
- Familiar with national legislation covering disability, human rights and employment
- Advocacy work for social inclusion/disability programmes
- Knowledgeable on current issues and best practice regarding disability, UNCRPD, SDG’s
