Programme Officer Inclusive Education At Sightsavers

Sightsavers is recruiting a Programme Officer to support and enhance the Education Assessment and Resource Centres (EARC) project and the Inclusive Early Childhood Development Education project (ECDE)

About the role

  • Planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating each project to meet agreed service levels
  • Providing information, documentation, budgets and forecasts to support the project lifecycles
  • Managing and building partnership relationships, championing shared learning and collaboration
  • Facilitating access to resources for partners to enhance their programmes
  • Collaborating with the Technical Global Lead, UK, Ministry of Education and other bodies
  • Working closely with the Finance team to monitor project expenditure and forecasts
  • Providing newsworthy stories and case studies to support advocacy and fundraising materials

Essential

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in social sciences/development or public health
  • Extensive experience implementing programmes in developing countries within education
  • Proven experience with inclusive Early Childhood Development Education, children with disability and partner engagement or the disability sector and gender mainstreaming
  • Advocacy work for social inclusion, disability programmes
  • Strong IT support to assist external organisations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, team player

Desirable

  • Familiar with national legislation and policies pertaining to disability, human rights and education
  • Knowledge of best practice in the field of disability and Kenyan legislation and framework on education
