About Badael:

Badael is a rights-based organization founded in 2013 with a mission to foster transformative justice as the basis of a genuine and sustainable peace in Syria. Championing locally owned alternatives, we endeavor to buttress the scope and impact of inclusive grassroots civic action and foment the development of holistic truth and understanding within and around the Syrian context. Our approach combines direct assistance and capacity building efforts with bottom-up narrative-shaping initiatives, including research, oral history and advocacy, so that all Syrians are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to construct a pluralistic and rights-based society of tomorrow.

Summary of the Position:

The Programs Manager will oversee two programs, providing leadership, supervision, and mentorship to the programs team. The role involves enhancing the team’s technical capacities for intervention design, program development, and implementation. Collaborating with the MEAL department, the Programs Manager will be responsible for producing high-quality donor reports. Budget oversight, including mentoring expenditures related to the programs, and close collaboration with the Operations Director for budget implementation are integral components of this position. As knowledge production is a key focus, candidates with backgrounds in both research and management are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program plan (monthly, quarterly, and yearly), specifying timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor and manage program plan execution to ensure the timely and successful completion of all project phases.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and standards for high-quality program outcomes.
  • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations to measure and enhance program performance.
  • Apply expertise in peacebuilding for the development and execution of programs promoting peace and stability.
  • Apply expertise in solidarity economy principles to establish a pro-peace economy, fostering thoughtful and innovative economic activities aligned with solidarity principles and contributing to sustainable peace.

Mentoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Management:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports based on a structured M&E plan.
  • Produce high-quality narrative reports for donors and partners in collaboration with the MEAL department.
  • Work closely with the MEAL department to develop an M&E system with standard procedures for credible, reliable, timely, and cost-effective monitoring data.
  • Coordinate M&E capacity-building activities for project staff and implementing partners.
  • Define KPIs for the program, establishing mechanisms for tracking and reporting on these metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the program.
  • Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with the program, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing risk management practices.
  • Work closely with the operations department to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain effective budget tracking.

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Build and lead a high-performing program team.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, boosting team productivity and morale.
  • Provide leadership, establish harmonious working relations with all program stakeholders, and support the capacity-building of the programs team.
  • Establish performance measures, analyze performance information, and utilize it for decision-making and resource allocation.

Qualification :

  • Master degree in economics, political science, or relevant fields.
  • No less than 3 years’ experience working in program/ project management in non- profit sector and/or international development programs.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Syrian context and excellent knowledge of the Syrian Civil society.
  • Demonstrated ability in data analysis, project design, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of project activities.
  • Arabic as a mother tongue, Syrian dialect proficiency needed.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in peacebuilding filed and/ or political economy, solidarity economy principles/practices.
  • Experience in research, data collection and analysis is desired.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Well-organized, detailed-oriented and capable of handling confidential information with utmost discretion.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined and able to think strategically.
