Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordinating Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission for Italy and Malta, the technical advice of the Integration Specialist and the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to assist in carrying out the Mission activities aimed at preventing and combatting migrants’ labour exploitation and marginalization.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Support in the case assessment of migrants potentially victims of labour exploitation and in their referral to protection mechanisms in coordination with the staff deployed in support of local Labour Inspectorates (cultural mediators) and field experts;
- Support the organization of training sessions for institutional counterparts at local level on the dynamics leading to the labour exploitation of vulnerable migrants in Italy;
- Liaise with stakeholders providing social and legal counselling to vulnerable migrants at risk of exploitation;
- Support in the organization of technical meetings to enhance private-public cooperation against migrants’ labour exploitation;
- Assist the Programme Manager with the preparation of all relevant financial documentation related to the project (procurement/payment/ reimbursement/travel);
- Collect the reports from the field experts and draft the interim and final reports to the donor.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant experience, or
- High school diploma with four years of relevant experience.
Experience
- Experience in the field of migrants’ labour integration, with a particular focus on the prevention of trafficking and migrants’ exploitation;
- Experience in liaising and cooperating with institutional and private actors at national or local level.
Skills
- Knowledge of the Italian Immigration Act with specific reference to the protection of victims of labour exploitation;
- Knowledge of the phenomenon of migrants illegal hiring and exploitation in Italy;
- Knowledge of the region is an advantage.
Languages
- Fluency in Italian and English is required (oral and written).
