Under the overall supervision of the Project Officer (NFIs and Distribution), the direct supervision of the and daily supervision of the Snr Project Assistant (Hygiene Promotion and Distribution) working closely with the IOM Units (Community Engagement Unit, RMM, MHD, Protection, MHPSS, SMS, and Education) the incumbent will be responsible for performing the following tasks

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Under the guidance of the Project coordinator and Senior Project Assistant, participate in

planning of Hygiene Promotion and community participation activities.

2. Participate in direct implementation of hygiene and health promotion activities in CAS transit

camp. This includes:

– Conducting household visits.

– Facilitating hygiene awareness sessions.

– Distributing hygiene promotion materials

– Facilitating Menstrual Hygiene Sessions for women and girls

– Environmental cleanliness.

– IYCF awareness sessions

– Interpretation of messages and information to guests

3. Assist the Project Officer in the coordination of – Water, sanitation, and hygiene regarding

WASH-related beneficiary preferences.

4. Support managing day-to-day hygiene promotion activities in the field.

5. Provide technical support and training for hygiene promoters and community volunteers.

6. Distribute Information, Communication, and Education (IEC) materials to community hygiene

promoters.

7. Support the coordination with the relevant stakeholders at CAS and the IOM unit on hygiene and

sanitation-related matters, such as awareness raising.

8. Provide regular and timely progress reports related to hygiene promotion activities.

9. Participate in drafting, adapting, reviewing SOPs and visibility (IEC) materials for hygiene activities

in CAS.

10. Participate in distribution of non-food items (NFIs) and supplementary food items (SFIs)

11. Contribute to producing Daily/weekly/monthly distribution reports, and monitor the recycling

procedure including cleaning, collection, and redistribution of NFIs.

12. Bring to the Assistance Programme Manager and the NFIs Project Manager’s attention any

challenges on NFI hygiene products and ensure quality delivery of service.

13. Assist in promoting a respectful working environment free of harassment, retaliation and prevent

sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH); this includes identifying PSEAH risks in NFIs

operations and implementing the PSEAH risk mitigation plan in the area of responsibility.

14. Perform other duties as required within the competencies and responsibilities of the position.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in public health, Environmental Health, Sociology, Development and humanitarian studies or related fields from an accredited academic institution* with three years of experience in WASH promotion, community/public health promotion and participation in camp setting, or,

· Completed high school with at least five years of relevant experience.

Experience

· Professional experience in humanitarian hygiene promotion (WASH), Public health Promotion,

· Shelter and NFIs programming, community engagement and participation.

· Prior relevant professional experience in NFIs distribution in a humanitarian context

· Prior experience working in camps.

· Preferable prior experience working with a United Nations agency in an emergency context.

· Knowledge of working with migrants and refugees.

Skills

· Must be approachable and empathic so children will be comfortable working with you.

· Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.

· Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting;

· Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.

· Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;

· Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

REQUIRED

For this position, fluency in English, Pashtu and Dari is required (oral and written).
