Project Assistant (PASSIM4) At International Organization for Migration

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Director of the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean, Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, and the direct supervision of the Integration Specialist and Coordinator (PM), the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the implementation of project “PASSIM4 – First Health Assistance for Rescue at Sea Operations” which will be implemented in Catania, Messina, Lampedusa, Crotone and Roccella Jonica.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • ​Assist in the development of a model for the cultural mediation service during the rescue at sea operations and arrivals from the Mediterranean Sea;
  • Assist in promoting the coordination of PASSIM partners, through the adoption of procedures aimed at enhancing communication and collaboration on common approach to migratory vulnerability;
  • Assist in the preparation of the guidelines for cultural mediation in humanitarian context;
  • Assist in the organization of the training sessions for cultural mediators on migration and humanitarian assistance and monitoring visits to the target regions;
  • Organize the anti-burn out sessions for cultural mediators deployed on the field;
  • Assist the Project Manager with the overall implementation of the project, including the preparation of all relevant financial documentation related to the project (procurement/payment/reimbursement/travel);
  • Draft narrative interim and final reports as requested by the donor for project manager’s revision and approval;
  • Participate to the monitoring visits to the target regions.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • ​​High school diploma with four years of experience; or
  • Degree in Social Science, Psychology, Political Science or International Relations with 2 years of experience.

Experience

  • ​​​​At least 2 years of experience in similar positions in the framework of humanitarian settings for vulnerable migrants;
  • Previous experience with International Organizations and/or humanitarian entities would be an asset.

Skills

  • ​Knowledge of the phenomenon of migrants’ vulnerability and rescue at sea operations;
  • Driving license is required.

Languages

  • Fluency in Italia​n​ and English is required (oral and written);
