Project Coordinator – Maldives At Ark Group

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

ARK Project Coordinators are critical enablers for the delivery of projects. They work under the Project Manager and are given responsibilities supporting project partners and objectives. They contribute to the effective, efficient and compliant day-to-day delivery of the project in accordance with ARK and the client’s policies and procedures. They work with other members of the project team, consultants and the ARK operations team to achieve the project objectives and contribute towards all project deliverables.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Coordinator will be the principle point of liaison between an international project supporting security and justice in Maldives and Maldivian governmental and non-governmental project partners. Responsibilities will include day-to-day engagement with project stakeholders, the articulation of needs to project personnel, the design and delivery of project activities and regular communication with other project personnel located remotely, as well as the routine facilitation of and support to the deployment of international expertise to Maldives and the delivery of capacity building and mentoring in support of project objectives.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a project management role in Maldives, with a focus on security/ justice sector.
  • Maldivian national.
  • Established relationships with key Maldivian security and justice ministries and institutions.
  • Full professional fluency in Dhivehi and English.
  • Clear, concise communicator (written and verbal) – able to work at all levels and with a variety of stakeholders, adjusting communication style as appropriate
  • Team player – able to work with a multi-national team, often remotely, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong work ethic – proactive, willing to work under limited supervision but also take direction as required.
  • Attention to detail – preparing work/visit plans, drafting notes, briefings and other correspondence for donor, ministries and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate and support multi-stakeholder visits/engagement – ranging from senior stakeholder engagement, through to organising logistics (there will be no support staff in country), so must be willing to work at all levels, from strategic to practical/operational.
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field such as international development, international relations, area studies, political science, sociology, public administration, communications and media studies. Masters degree preferred.
  • Excellent team management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, be a self-starter, team builder, innovative and demonstrate the capacity for maintaining high professional standards.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable

  • Established relationships with relevant UN agencies, CSOs, donors.
  • Relevant project management qualification such as PMD Pro, PMP or PRINCE 2.
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as international development, international relations, areas studies, political science, sociology, public administration, communications and media studies.
  • Experience of MEAL systems and processes in a development project environment.
  • Familiarity with donor compliance and regulations.
