Partners seeks qualified candidates for the position of Project Director for a potential project financed by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) that aims to improve adherence to international labor standards in the agricultural sector in Ecuador. The project aims to address evidence regarding the prevalence of child labor in the banana and cut flower sectors, as well as to build awareness and capacity to mitigate the risk of other labor rights abuses, including forced labor, and to support efforts to address occupational safety and health issues.
The Project Director will be responsible for achieving the project’s goals, setting the technical direction for the program, and managing relationships with stakeholders and project partners. The Project Director will also be responsible for the financial management and sustainability of the project, and for the promotion of the vision and strategy of development of the entire project, the delivery of all reports on time, preventing and solving challenges to achieve the successful development of the proposed activities and the achievement of the desired objectives and results. The Project Director will ensure programmatic and financial compliance with the award, including delivery of project milestones. This position reports to the Senior Director of the Labor Unit.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Directly coordinate with home office and field staff
- Meet project deadlines and oversee the preparation and submission of required reports to donor agencies and ensure delivery of project deliverables
- Achieve project targets and ensure effective implementation of project activities
- Establish and maintain systems for managing project operations
- Monitor project budget and expenditures, ensuring contractual and financial compliance
- Cultivate and maintain working relationships with all project stakeholders, engaging in coalition building and public-private partnership promotion.
- Supervise and manage project staff
- Must devote at least 90 percent level of effort to the project.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Background:
- Minimum of five years of experience in project management, supervision, administration, and implementation of cooperative agreements and/or contract requirements (including meeting deadlines, achieving targets, establishing and maintaining systems for managing project operations, and overseeing the preparation and submission of required reports to donor agencies), preferably in Ecuador
- Experience establishing and maintaining systems for managing project operations.
- Proven success serving in a leadership role for a project addressing issues of child labor, forced labor, or workplace exploitation.
- Experience maintaining working relationships with all project stakeholders and engaging in coalition building and public-private partnership promotion.
- Experience working in supply chains and/or skills training development.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
