Project Finance Officer At Christian Aid

Role purpose

The Projects Finance Officer supports the Finance Manager in providing finance management, ensuring donor compliance and risk management for Christian Aid Projects. The Finance Officer will support the Finance Manager by inputting financial data in SUN System in an efficient, accurate and timely manner, ensuring that financial budgeting is efficiently monitored and that the internal and external financial reporting is achieved in a timely manner. The role will also support with partners’ financial reporting, budgeting, auditing and compliance to agreed due diligence that relate to partner organizations, in line with Christian Aid’s procedures and policies. The Finance Officer will also support the programs team in building the financial and budget management capacity of local partner organization through training and support.

Key outcomes

• Cash, bank books and other financial documentation are maintained in SUN SYSTEMS in an accurate and timely manner.

• Preliminary financial reports on project and partners are prepared and submitted for review • Monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and follow up on outstanding balances •

Local budgets and donor funded interventions are managed, reviewed regularly and corrective action taken as necessary.

• Christian Aid and donor financial policies and procedures are complied with. • Support country team on procurement policy implementation (requesting for quotes, order forms preparations etc).

• Monthly cost recovery invoices against projects for items such as mileage. • Support the administration team with asset and inventory verification and perform spot checks.

• Filing and archiving are conducted accurately, timeously with due care and vouchers are easily retrievable for reviews or verification

• With the support of Finance Manager, ensure financial capacity building is delivered to programme staff and partners to include procurement, reporting, compliance and how to deliver training.

Ensure partners meet and comply financial reporting in line with with Christian Aid’s and institutional donors’ policies and procedures.

• Good relationships with third parties, suppliers and partners are maintained through positive communication.

• Payment vouchers are processed, all relevant authorizations and documents are attached.

• Ad hoc office support provided as and when required

Requirements

Essential

 Specialized knowledge of finance with at least a degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce

• Verbal and written fluency in English

• Knowledge of financial standards as required by donors, local and statutory frameworks

• Experience working in the non profit sector with financial accounting procedures, preparing and reviewing financial reports, creating and monitoring budgets and working with compliance regulations.

• Experience working with auditors

• Knowledge of ERP systems

• Self-motivated, thorough and accuracy oriented

• Clean Class 4 driver’s license.

Desirable

• Part-qualified IFAC Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

• Experience working with SUN systems

• Advanced use of Excel

• Experience of dealing with institutional donor fund accounting requirement
