About WIEGO: WIEGO is a global action-research-policy network that seeks to improve the status of the working poor in the informal economy, especially women. Worldwide, an estimated two billion people — 61 percent of all working people in the world and 70 percent of those working in middle- and low-income countries — work in the informal economy, meaning that they lack the labour and social protections that help smooth income, protect against risk, and keep households out of poverty.

About Social Protection: The Social Protection Programme works to inform policy debates through its research and enhance the ability of informal worker organizations to advocate for social protection. We are seeking a Project Manager to support a new SPP project on Innovations in Social Insurance in sub-Saharan Africa.

About the Role: Reporting to the Director of Social Protection, the Project Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities overseeing this project including research management, advocacy, monitoring, learning and evaluation, time management and communications. There is a strong research component to this role, and prospective candidates should be comfortable with research design and the management of research.

The‌ ‌post-holder‌ ‌will‌ ‌work‌ ‌from‌ ‌home‌ ‌and‌ ‌therefore‌ ‌you‌ ‌will‌ ‌need‌ ‌access‌ ‌to‌ ‌your‌ ‌own‌ ‌computer‌ ‌equipment‌ ‌and‌ ‌a‌ ‌strong‌ ‌Internet‌ ‌connection.‌ ‌WIEGO‌ ‌is‌ ‌particularly‌ ‌interested‌ ‌to‌ ‌hear‌ ‌from‌ ‌women based in the Global South. This is a‌ ‌part‌ ‌time‌ ‌contract‌ ‌position‌ until March 2023, for approximately 2.5 days per week .‌ ‌Salary‌ ‌is‌ ‌dependent‌ ‌on‌ ‌experience,‌ ‌location‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌role‌ ‌profile‌ ‌as defined by WIEGO’s Remuneration Policy–‌ ‌this‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌discussed‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌successful‌ ‌candidate.

About You: The successful candidate will have an advanced degree, at least to Masters-level; PhD is an asset) in public/social policy and other related disciplines. You will have at least 5 years previous experience in a non-profit, public policy organization, research, or academic environment with some project management experience. You will have a strong track record of social protection research and policy advocacy (or related areas) for and with low-income groups in Africa, Asia or Latin America.
