**Terms of Reference – Project Manager

Background

Turning Tables (TT) is a Danish-based international non-profit organization that aims to empower disadvantaged youth in vulnerable communities by giving them access to training, education, and creative capacity-building in the fields of music, filmmaking, and arts. At the same time, it amplifies the voices of adolescents and youth at local and national levels, providing them with the means to express their grievances, hopes, and dreams.

TT established a local office in Jordan in 2010 and has since implemented various cultural and creative projects. TT has comprehensive experience working to promote and support freedom of expression, human rights, civic engagement, economic inclusion, and social cohesion between marginalized refugees and Jordanian host communities. One of the main focuses has been working with traumatized and vulnerable youth in refugee camps, preventing negative coping mechanisms, offering psycho-social support, and youth empowerment through creative trauma processing.

Turning Tables Jordan has been awarded the project titled CLIQ with funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation in Denmark. CLIQ (Creative Learning for Improving Quality of life for vulnerable youth in Jordan) is a demand driven project which seeks to provide marginalised Syrian and Jordanian youth with skills to improve their employability by offering a combination of training and hands-on experience within areas related to the Creative Industries in Jordan. The project aims to enhance the social and economic empowerment and self reliance of young Syrian and other vulnerable youth in Jordan. The project runs from Nov. 2020-Nov. 2022.

Turning Tables Jordan is now looking to hire an experienced Project Manager, to be a key member of the TTJ team, working closely with staff across the organization to develop and carry out high-quality, effective and timely project management.

Objective:

The project manager monitors progress and completion, and ensures all activities meet the expectations of the donors. He/She will ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. Other responsibilities include submitting project deliverables and preparing status reports as well as being responsible for collecting and reporting lessons learned from the CLIQ project implementation process.

Main Activities:

  • Responsible for overseeing and reporting on developments for timeline and CLIQ activities including maintaining online logbook
  • Responsible for liaison with TTI for issues related to rationale, project objectives and design and theory of change
  • Responsible for translation of official documents to and from Arabic and English
  • Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of project deliverables, lead project planning, action plans and monitoring processes, ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Supporting and informing the Country Director and Finance Manager on budgeting issues.
  • Responsible for outlining HR policy (registration of work hours, notification of leave days, etc. child safeguarding policy)
  • Responsible for HR procedures (keeping track of leave days, work hours, etc.)
  • Responsible for external partner coordination and admin
  • Supporting Country Director in terms of network building with CCIs, Policymakers, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders
  • Responsible for recruitment of project participants in collaboration with other key staff
  • Responsible for preparing quarterly progress reports for TT International and contributing to annual reports, project completion reports and other donor reports that may be required in liaison with TT International.
  • Responsible for collecting and analysing ongoing feedback from instructor team and processing data for learning purposes
  • Responsible for organising CCI internships together with other key staff
  • Assisting with MEAL planning and activities on an ad hoc basis.

Opportunity Summary:

Length of contract: 10 months, full time with the possibility of extension

Location: Amman, Jordan

Starting date: January 1st 2022 or soonest hereafter

Salary: Appropriate compensation will be offered to the right candidate.

Reports to: Director, Turning Tables Jordan, Programme Manager at TTI (for all issues related to reporting)

Qualifications:

We are looking for a Project Manager who is good at keeping overview and balancing many simultaneous tasks. Furthermore, it is important that the Project Manager is proactive and good at communicating, not only with colleagues in the office but also with colleagues in an online format (based outside Jordan) as well as with local stakeholders in Jordan. The desires profile looks as follows:

  • Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree preferred) in social sciences, conflict transformation, peacebuilding, international development or other relevant fields;
  • Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience directly working on field project management, donor reporting and grants management, including experience working with tools such as log frames and theory of change
  • Experience with outlining HR policies in a Jordanian context is an asset
  • Language: Excellent skills in written and spoken English and Arabic is necessary
  • Others:
  • Ability to analyse complex data and information and present it to various audiences,
  • strong written and oral communication skills,
  • effective in representation and liaison with external parties.
  • Desirable: Experience with MEAL issues; preparation of data collection tools and lessons learned formats as well as working with processing of quantitative and qualitative data is an asset. **
