Project Manager – DRC At Belgian Red Cross

Introduction

The Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (CRB-Fl) is part of the International Red Cross Movement. The International Department focuses on three thematic areas: International Humanitarian Law, Restoring Family Links and our International Operations. In close collaboration with the sister national society of each country and its many volunteers, the CRB-Fl focuses on the implementation of projects in the field of first aid, blood banking, disaster preparedness and response, mainly in Africa.

In the coming years, CRB-Fl will continue to strengthen its expertise-based strategy to maximize the impact of its operations. It places great importance on innovation, integrity, initiative and teamwork.

CRB-Fl is looking for a Project Manager in the DRC who will also act as Country Representative and strengthen the ongoing partnership with the Red Cross of the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a particular focus on first aid, protection and disaster preparedness.

Function

The project manager represents the Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (CRB-Fl) with the Red Cross of the Democratic Republic of Congo (CRRDC), donors and other humanitarian actors in the field. You report directly to one of the regional managers of the CRB-Fl who is under the direct supervision of the International Cooperation Manager at headquarters.

You ensure adequate management of projects concerning First Aid, Disaster Management and Protection, carried out by the CRRDC with the financial and technical support of the CRB-Fl.

CRB-Fl relies on your skills in the following areas: project planning and communication, detailed financial monitoring and stakeholder management. End-to-end responsibility as a project manager is a key success factor.

• You are responsible for the general management of the delegation (both from a material and financial point of view).
• You facilitate a professional relationship between the CRB-Fl and the CRRDC to ensure a positive and constructive partnership.
• You are developing a security framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo based on the general rules and instructions of the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement and/or the CRB-Fl headquarters.
• You manage potential security incidents in collaboration with the CRB-Fl headquarters.
• You ensure the proper application of the integrity framework established at the CRB-FL within the CRB-FL delegation and projects.
• You support investigations into potential integrity incidents under the supervision of CRB-Fl headquarters.

Your profile

• You have a master’s degree in science or economics.
• Knowledge of medical science, first aid, blood banking and/or data management is an asset.
• You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.
• Proven experience in a results-oriented environment is a plus.
• Experience within the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is an asset.
• Fluency in French and English is essential, both spoken and written.
• Knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
