Project Manager – Eastern Partnership Region At Equal Rights and Independent Media

ERIM is looking for a Lyon-based Project Manager to work on our project Emergency Support to Civil Society and Media in Response to the Ukraine War (ESU) a 24-month project funded by the European Union which aims to strengthen the resilience and effectiveness of war affected CSOs and civil society actors in Ukraine, including independent media and human rights defenders.

Your responsibilities:

  • Working within a Lyon-based team, ensure the smooth implementation of a multi-million EUR project supporting Ukrainian civil society, including activity implementation, administration, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and budget tracking.
  • Support Ukrainian civil society through the project subgranting scheme: share the grant opportunities and collect applications, take part in and document the selection process, communicate with subgrantees, draft contracts, track grants and conduct monitoring and evaluation, including travel, etc.
  • Work closely with the ERIM finance team to ensure consistency across budget monitoring, partners reports and compliance with the rules of the donor.
  • Ensure strong coordination between different stakeholders involved in the project, including partners, beneficiaries, and donors.

Essential criteria:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field of study (political science, human rights, media, journalism, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in international project management, including sub-granting aspects, in the fields of civil society development, human rights promotion and/or media development
  • Knowledge of and experience with the civil society in Eastern Partnership countries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Pro-active, solutions focused, and able to work independently
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines.
  • Willing to travel internationally
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
  • Right to work in the EU
  • Based or willingness to be based in Lyon

The following criteria will be considered as an advantage:

  • Experience of working for EU-funded projects
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian language

Contract conditions:

Fixed term contract of 12 months at full time (37 hours per week) starting as soon as possible. With the opportunity for renewal.

Salary according to the ERIM salary scale: from 2,750 euros brut depending on experience.

Job based in Lyon, France, with occasional international travel.
