The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Manager, Food Fortification to manage and support the project delivery for the Large-Scale Food Fortification project. This position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. About the Role
Reporting to the Portfolio Lead, LSFF and Value Chain, the post-holder will be responsible for the planning, managing, quality assurance and reporting of GAIN’s edible oil fortification, salt iodization, rice fortification projects and support in other food fortification initiatives.
The Project Manager will maintain working relationships with implementation partners, government and policy institutions. You will assist in developing concepts, proposals and exploring new programmatic areas based on learning from the projects.
You will also actively be involved in QUAD working groups for respective workstreams and provide updates on project implementation. The position will be based in Dhaka with frequent travelling (30%) across the country.
Key Responsibilities include;
- Responsible for the management of LSFF projects in terms of partnership management, technical, reporting, and monitoring supports
- Leading the development of detailed implementation plan, co-operation agreement, contract for service, grant agreement and highlighting challenges, monitoring implementation partners, research and evaluation agencies and other stakeholders
- Preparing project progress reports, helping with timely forecasts of funds with support from the Finance Team
- Providing on-going support for quality assurance of all work related to LSFF, progress tracking, review of results and comparison to standards and regulations
- Ensuring GAIN’s regular interaction with partners and increasing the profile of LSFF and business development among stakeholders including sharing of learnings
- Visiting field activities to ensure that project progress is on track and the risk mitigation plan is up to date
- Contributing to the development of concepts, proposals, and explore new programmatic areas based on learning from the projects
- Providing market information periodically regarding other fortified foods on the market or in social safety nets in Bangladesh (e.g. rice, wheat flour etc.)
About You
The ideal candidate should have demonstrable professional experience working in the field of food fortification, private sector or within an international development agency as well as managing projects in Bangladesh. You should have proven track record in providing supportive supervision, managing staff and programme monitoring at field level.
You should have previous experience working in multi-cultural, cross-functional team environment. You should have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure with frequent deadlines.
The postholder should also have experience in data analysis, quality reporting, indicators tracking and developing and/or strengthening MIS. You should be highly flexible and willing to travel in country frequently. Experience in food fortification, food industries, development and private sector would be an advantage.
About our Offer
The starting salary on offer for this role is from BDT 1,555,584 – BDT 1,777,608 per annum, depending on experience.
