Job context:

HI is re-opening a two-country program covering Ukraine and Moldova. In Ukraine, HI aims at intervening in the West and East of the country from its operational hubs in Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Dnipro and other areas of intervention including Lviv, Uzhhorod and areas in the east closer to the frontline i.e. Kharkiv, adapting modalities of intervention to the various and diverging contexts of implementation. Aligning itself with the priorities of the Ukraine Flash Appeal, HI pillars of interventions are as follows:

With the view to ensure relevance and quality of programming in response to the Ukraine Crisis, HI is sending a Project manager Trainer (a Senior Project Manager) to accompany and help build the capacities of the project teams, across its Central operational hub (Chernivsti-Vinnytsia-Lviv).

Missions:

Reporting to the Area Manager, you support the capacitating of the PMs on the operational (including technical, financial, logistical etc.) planning, implementation and monitoring of HI’s operational strategy. To do so, you support the PMs to ensure optimal quality, effectiveness and impact of the project implemented and to contribute to the sound management and effective functioning of the organization in the Ukraine context.

As Project manager trainer, you will support PMs to ensure they are well equipped to manage the following responsibilities :

  • Ensure the implementation of the project, in line with the logical framework and allocated budget
  • Ensure that project implementation complies with the existing frameworks
  • Ensure project monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
  • Ensure project data management
  • Coordinate the teams involved in the project
  • Contribute to external project communication

Profile:

With at least 3 years of professional experience in project management (including functional management) in challenging humanitarian contexts

  • You have a good knowledge of project management tools and processes
  • You are acknowledged as fostering teamwork, empowering and developing others
  • You have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • You show great planning and organizational skills

Characteristics of the position:

The position is based in Tchernivtsi, where the security situation is very stable. Markets, restaurants and cafés are open and life continues as normal. There is a strict curfew from 10pm to 6am as in the whole of Ukraine. Some HI staff in Chernivtsi sleep in a guesthouse and other staff sleep in individual rooms in a hotel. We have an office at 10 minutes of walking distance from the city centre. There are several restaurants, bars and cafés, with different styles of quality food, as well as a big public park, a large monumental square, and a beautiful pedestrian street with 19th century historical buildings.”

  • 3 months International contract starting from 1st June 2022
  • The international contract provides social cover adapted to your situation:
    • Unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals
    • Pension scheme adapted to the situation of our employees: If you already have a personal pension scheme HI will contribute at the same level of your personal monthly contribution with a maximum of 272.53€/month ; If you do not have a personal pension scheme, we will open a private pension account with your contribution of 272.53€/month and a contribution of HI of the same amount
    • Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution ; Repatriation insurance paid by HI
  • Salary from 2757€ gross/month upon experience
  • Perdiem: 637,87 € net/month – paid in the field;
  • Hardship: 500 € net/month paid with your salary
  • Paid leaves: 25 days per year;
  • R&R: 5 days every 8 weeks => + possible transport/package support.
  • Position: unaccompanied; Payment for travel costs (air ticket & visa)
  • Housing: Collective taken in charge by HI
