Project Officer At INTERSOS

JOB PURPOSE
The project officer will be based in Maiduguri, Borno State. Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Program Manager the Project Officer (PO) shall contribute to all aspects of Project Cycle Management (PCM) of the BHA project. This includes contribution to operational planning and supervision of project delivery, project staff, quality management, accountability, and compliance with donor requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports in the operational planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities in close collaboration with respective managers.
  • Supports the medical coordinator in planning and tracking budget expenditures and accountability.
  • Monitors and consolidates staff leave plans, movement plans, duty rosters and timesheets and shares with Deputy Program Manager for approval and onward submission to HR.
  • Enhances teamwork and capacity building to ensure the delivery of quality aid to beneficiaries and their communities.
  • Leads the coordination with HR regarding the recruitment of national staff other relevant documentation including drafting staff requests based upon JDs shared by line managers and ensures timely integration of new staff into teams.
  • Leads in preparing PRs, budget tracking and forecasting, procurement planning, following up to ensure that goods and services are delivered just in time and supervise distribution plans and reports.
  • Supports the team in enforcing security compliance by staff, including obtaining movement clearances, reporting on incidences.
  • Supports in planning and supervising field data collection, and monitoring of all field activities and tracking the performance of project performance indicators against the agreed targets and reviewing log frames, theories of change, context analyses and needs assessments that would inform programming.
  • Supporting project management by participating in monitoring visits, briefings/meetings.
  • Coordinates with the team on project progress through regular project review meetings.
  • Supports the compilation of the monthly project report and archiving of means of verification.
  • Coordinate with communications team to collate success stories from project activities.
  • And any other task as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirement
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Management, Development Studies or any related field.
Professional Requirement
• Minimum 2-5 years project management experience in multinational working environment
• Minimum 2-year experience with recognized INGO Previous experience
• A Certifications in Project management is desirable.
Personal Requirements
• Knowledge of Project Cycle Management
• Excellent networking skills,
• High degree of negotiation and strong communication skills with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior members of the humanitarian community as well as with field practitioners.
• Ability to work with a reasonable level of comfort in high tension and high security risk situations.
• Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments, and physical hardships.
• Understands work from a process point of view and uses measurement and accountability systems effectively.
• Knowledge of NGO and Humanitarian industry
• Computer literacy (MS Excel, MS Word)
• Good organizational skills Ability and willingness to travel between across locations of implementation within LGA
• Good management of stress and willing to work in a volatile context.
• Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet) Teamwork, commitment, cooperation, and behavioral flexibility
Languages
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Knowledge of local language, Kanuri and/or Hausa Language is desirable
