With support from Givewell, Sightsavers is working in Guinea to contribute towards the control of Schistosomiasis (SCH) and Soil-transmitted Helminthiasis (STH) before WHO set the deadline for the elimination of NTDs as a public health problem in the world. Sightsavers Guinea country office is keen to bring on board a Project Officer to help this cause.
As the Deworming SCH/STH Project Officer you will work with partners to develop annual plans based on developed programmes, make sure the implementation of projects are within budget, support all aspects of the project planning, ensure learnings from the project implementation are appropriately documented and provide regular, high-quality reporting.
The Project Officer will develop case studies and be proactive in providing relevant information for fundraising, communication and advocacy purposes. The role will support the Senior Programme Manager and Country NTDs Programme Manager and assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and Activity Based Budgets for the NTD projects and monitor expenditure against these.
Further duties include;
· Ensuring the submission of timely programme reports as per agreed format and timelines.
· Manage monitoring and evaluation systems and structures associated with GiveWell supported activities aligning as fully as possible with MoH systems.
· Work with the Ministry of Health and partners on how to interpret and use data/findings to guide decision making.
· Support the Sightsavers NTD Technical Hub to proactively analyse and submit NTDs and WASH related data.
· Facilitate and participate in regular monitoring of on-going programme activities in close coordination with the MOH NTD office
As the successful candidate you will be a Public Health Physician or possess a masters degree or higher education diploma (or equivalent) in Medicine, Biology, sociology, or Development related studies. You will have experience in programme/project management within an NGO environment, have skills in the writing of activity reports, and have qualifications/experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects/programmes. You will have knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint), have an understanding of budgets and financial provisions, and be fluent in written and spoken English.
