The EWDE structures its work in separate brands:

  • Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH) is a humanitarian agency providing funds for emergency aid world-wide, which works through several regional offices. DKH’s Regional Office West and Central Asia, based in Amman, Jordan, provides comprehensive program support to DKH Project Offices and local partners in the region. • Brot für die Welt (BfdW,Bread for the World) is a development agency which works to empower the marginalised to improve their living conditions and claim their rights. BfdW primarily focuses on the support of local partner organisations’ projects in the countries of the Global South. Key issues of its work are food security, the promotion of health and education, the access to water, the strengthening of democracy, respecting human rights, keeping peace and the integrity of creation. A key strategic goal is combatting climate change, in the form of supporting both mitigation and adaptation projects. In order to increase synergies between BfdW’s partner organisations in the MENA region and to empower their voices vis-à-vis local to international decision makers, the BfdW Dialogue Programme MENA has been created. It cooperates with and supports local partner organisations across the MENA region through strengthening their capacities as regards climate change adaptation and mitigation and connecting them with relevant actors.
