Girls Not Brides is the only organisation uniquely focused on creating and sustaining a global movement to end child marriage, and ensuring that this leads to tangible change for girls. We are a network of over 1,500 civil society organisations in over 100 countries working in partnership to end child marriage.
Our vision is a world without child marriage where girls and women enjoy equal status with boys and men and are able to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives. Our vision challenges deeply embedded social norms that discriminate against girls and women, and have negative impacts in their communities.
Girls Not Brides and UNICEF (through West and Central Africa Regional Office) are working together to implement the project “*promoting Gender Transformative civil society organisation’s capacity in Africa”.* This one-year project aims to strengthen the capacity of Girls Not Brides National Partnership and coalition in Mozambique and Nigeria in gender transformative approaches (GTA) in collective programming and advocacy to end child marriage. The project aims also to share the tools and lessons learned on GTA with the wider Girls Not Brides membership in the Africa region. This project is part of the Spotlight Initiative.
The successful candidate will provide technical guidance to ensure the achievement of the GTA project objectives and delivery of project outputs in the region, ensuring the relevant project management processes, tools and systems are in place to support the project implementation. This will be done in close coordination with the Girls Not Brides secretariat team members, civil society coalitions to end child marriage and partners.
The Project Officer will provide critical support to strengthening Girls Not Brides’ partnerships and other networks and alliances in the region through coordination of project activities and co-creation of GTA interventions with our members.
