Doctors of the World is the German section of the international humanitarian organization Médecins du Monde. We are committed to ensuring that all people everywhere can assert their right to health – through political work and medical assistance.
open.med Munich includes a medical contact point and a mobile service for people without health insurance. In addition to general medical consultations, the contact point also offers consultations for children, women, and those with chronic and mental illnesses. A team drives the treatment bus to Munich Central Station and an emergency shelter, the City of Munich’s overnight shelter, every week in order to reach people with low thresholds. As part of social counseling during consultation hours and mobile missions, we help with questions about (re-)integration into the health insurance system and refer people to the Munich counseling and care network for further questions. Volunteer doctors and medical students provide medical care during consultation hours and missions under full-time coordination.
