CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 2: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Coach is responsible for coordinating project activities in assigned school communities by supporting Principals and Teachers and PTAs during the project implementation and liaising with DEOs for follow up. The coach also provides refresher training to teachers and other stakeholders.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The coach is responsible for project delivery of the SRGBV Project’s activities in consultation with the Project officer and Project Lead in the assigned counties’ selected schools.

Role Dimensions:

Coaches support the project implementation and coordination and actively participate in capacity building activities, training at schools and community levels and community stakeholders’ engagement. They also contribute to project implementation and monitoring activities.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Headteachers. PTA’s and teachers’ trainings on SRGBV as per project objectives.
  2. Coordinated School Visits
  • Meeting with the school Principal to know the project’s progress and possible improvement areas.
  • Review of work schedules to ensure the project objectives are on track at the school level.
  1. Communication
  • Escalation of incidents, Issues, and queries that he/she cannot solve.
  1. Community mobilization
  • Responsible for aggregating PTA’s, Kids Clubs, etc. for meetings and trainings are required.
  • Assist PTAs understand its role and are actively supporting schools’ management on specific issues on the project objectives.
  1. Reports
  • Making bi-weekly monitoring reports, according to the project schedule.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • At least 2 years’ experience (including field experience) in a similar role focused on advancing SRGBV and/or Child-Safeguarding.
  • Strong understanding of SRGBV principles and practices, the SRGBV sector, policy priorities and key gender inequalities impacting children in Liberia
  • Experience in SRGBV training, capacity building, and mentoring, and a demonstrated ability to make complex concepts compelling and accessible to non-technical audiences.

Skilled at networking, representation to promote learning and strengthen community-based groups.
