Protection Coordinator At Syria Relief & Development

I. SRD Overview and Mandate

Syria Relief & Development (SRD) is a non-profit organization providing humanitarian aid to Syrians affected by violence, hunger, poverty, injury, and displacement. Our Mission is to provide crisis humanitarian relief and plant the seeds of sustainable development for the people of Syria. Our Vision is to maintain humanitarian relief and mobilize resources to develop a comprehensive agenda for sustainable development in Syria, SRD offices in Gaziantep, Turkey, and in NW Syria.

II. Duties&Responsibilities

• Ensure that SRD’s policy and operational interests in the area of protection (child protection/GBV) are actively represented.

• Coordinate with the SRD project manager in Syria and Turkey for project planning related to the continued delivery of the full Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response and prevention package in PHCs and safe space located as per the project concept.

• Coordinate with Field Protection Coordinator and GBV Program Manager in Turkey with daily regular communication. Coordinate with the Senior CP Officer and MHPSS Coordinator when there is a need.

• Further build the organizational and technical capacity of project staff to be able to continue providing high-quality services to GBV survivor women and girls or at risk of GBV.

• Coordinate with NGO partners regarding training and implementation of the GBV program of the project, including support for the implementation of training and technical assistance efforts;

• Receive referred cases and follow up as the main organization focal point. Train staff on case management and case-centered approach to dealing with survivors. Provide technical GBV support to the Outreach team in the timely completion of all reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, final, and any other required, ensuring reports are of an acceptable standard and match the Kobo that was done by SRD MEAL team and introduced to the staff;

• Assist in the coordination of community-based education and advocacy campaigns to support SRD community involvement.

• Supervise all GBV program all over NW Syria.

  • Coordinate with other program teams, including health, education, and livelihoods, to ensure a coordinated approach to addressing the protection and GBV needs of beneficiaries.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting, including regular reporting on protection and GBV activities.

• Any other relevant tasks upon the request of the Direct Manager.

Requirements:

  • A degree in social work, psychology, or related degree;
  • Minimum two years experience working in the field of child protection/ protection/ GBV or related field;
  • Previous experience in working with children with vulnerable children or children with special needs;
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children
  • Good understanding of child protection in emergencies;
  • Confident communicator, with excellent negotiations skills;
  • Very well organized and with good reporting skills;
  • Able to work under pressure;
  • Works well in teamwork, is flexible, and willing to learn
  • Good Computer skills: MS Word and Excel
  • Fluency in English and Arabic required
