AAR Japan is looking for Protection Manager for a Child Protection Project for refugees and host communities.
The Protection Manager is responsible to provide technically monitor and guide all the protection related operations within the project. He/she will be the main contact person to ensure international standards (CHS, AAP etc.) are embedded in every-day work of the project.
Currently AAR Japan is working with community volunteers, and partnering with Community Based Organizations (CBO) as part of community-based protection/ community engagement. He/she should coordinate and supervise the volunteer engagement teams of AAR Japan and its local partners including CBOs in different locations (Sanliurfa, and other cities). This includes developing the capacity of the teams. Protection Manager will represent AAR Japan in coordination efforts with local authorities and other stakeholders for protection related matters.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Technical Programme Manager (TPM)
External Representation:
- Representation at inter agencies working groups and other local project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and approaches for community engagement in project implementation including integration of certain groups of people, such as; refugees, people with disability, women.
- Constantly analyse community situation to adjust strategies and systems that works to achieve program goals covering all programs in coordination with TPM.
- Develop age, gender and diversity-sensitive, awareness-raising/trainings modules on protection and child protection themes;
- Guide community volunteer team to capacitate community volunteers to establish community referral mechanisms for ease access to available services including child protection and protection services;
- Prepare guidelines for volunteers’ engagement and management, including staff supervision, work flow and organization roles of teams and volunteers;
- Provide trainings for project staff members and partners, such as Community Based Organizations on protection and child protection topics;
- In coordination with Partnership Manager, provide technical support to partner CBOs through on the job trainings on protection activities and general technical input for CBOs protection activities;
- Develop monitoring and evaluation systems for AAR Japan protection activities, including tools preparation, monitoring exercises and reporting;
- Manage project database and work with Grants team for reporting;
- Support AAR Japan senior management in project design and planning;
- Consult and report to technical programme manager on ad hoc and monthly basis;
Qualification & Requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor degree in social work, sociology, community development or any relevant studies.
- At least 5 years of professional experience on the field of protection including at least 3 year or in a relevant field.
- Excellent command of English and Turkish or Arabic (written and spoken).
- Professional writing: Experience/ability to write varied types of documents (such as donor report, monthly report, activity plan, activity SOP/ guidelines), to review submitted report/ planning paper, to ensure the highest quality.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent personal organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Practical knowledge of protection, social work and community development
- Experience in organizing training and capacity building activities.
- Good presentation skills
- Good command of Microsoft office tools (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook at a minimum)
- Must be self-motivated and able to work closely with managers and implementation staff as needed.
- Regular monthly travel required.
Desirable
- Master degree in relevant studies.
- Working in specific protection topics (e.g. Disability, SGBV) is an asset.
- Ability to create vision and strategy and to inspire people.
- Working on M & E, experience to deal with data, to analysis on statistics, to write result report for M & E is preferable
